The summer officially came to a close in this household today. Big Bug started third grade! It was a new grade in a new school in a new state with a new teacher. Whew. So we made a First Day of School Sign to remember the day.

Thanks to Pic Monkey you can create any kind of sign you want. To create a chalkboard sign upload a chalkboard background image or use the various effects they have to give you that cool chalkboard look. Choose fonts that you think look hand drawn and go from there.

back to school sign

When I was done I had Staples print a colored engineering print (about $5 for an 18×24 print) and I was good to go. At home I added real chalk to the print to give it a little more depth and put it in a poster frame just so it would be easier to hold.

Do you have any back to school traditions?
