Organize Yo’ Recipes: Cook’n Recipe Organizer Review & Giveaway [Ended]

pixel Organize Yo Recipes: Cookn Recipe Organizer Review & Giveaway [Ended]Untitled Organize Yo Recipes: Cookn Recipe Organizer Review & Giveaway [Ended]I have a hard time keeping track of recipes I like. I often forget to print them or just save them in a document on my computer (not very attractive at all). I know there are sites where you can save recipes but sometimes I would just rather the recipes I like be on my computer and not the internet (my wireless connection has been giving me trouble here lately).

Recently I have been playing around with the Cook’n Recipe Organizer. So far I love all of it’s features not to mention you get an included recipe book plus an additional e-cookbook of your choosing when you buy the software.

Let’s say you only have so many items on hand and don’t have time to go the store. You can use the Cook’n recipe software to find a recipe that you can make with the ingredients you do have. It can search for recipes online and in it’s personal library. This is going to be so useful for me! I really hate grocery shopping.

Oh, look. You found a great recipe online. You can use Cook’n to import that recipe into your personal Cook’n library where you can change up the recipe however you like. And if you wish you can easily print it onto index cards. I love that this software allows you to compile recipes from any site. It will be so convenient having all the recipes I love in one place!

On a diet? Cook’n can also analyze a recipe’s ingredients and give you all of it’s nutritional facts. I am always wondering “How many calories is in this?” or “Is this really healthy?”. Now I will know and can alter the recipe if necessary.

Not a math whiz? Cook’n can easily convert measurements. I hate trying to figure out how many tablespoons is in a cup or something. Ugh. Math.

Have a recipe box that’s over flowing? You can enter in all of the recipes you already love into Cook’n where you can also create menus (just by simply clicking and dropping the recipes you want included) and shopping lists (it even calculates an estimated cost!).

I love food in general so it’s hard to narrow it down, pasta is one of my favorite foods so pretty much any pasta and veggie combo, I also love homemade guacamole

My fave recipe is an old “secret” family recipe for Red Velvet Cake. This cake comes out so incredibly moist and tender without being overwhelmingly sweet so that it fits perfectly with it’s cream cheese frosting. I have never found anyone or anywhere else that can make a Red Velvet Cake which can even come close to the recipe passed down to me. I’ve had many people try to figure out how I manage to make this cake, but no one has ever been able to guess the simple process used (and which makes all the difference in the world!) You’ve never really tried Red Velvet Cake until you’ve tried one made with this recipe!!

I have an old Cook’n CD that had a chocolate cookie recipe that had just a few ingredients; graham cracker crumbs, condensed milk & either cocoa or chocolate & one other ingredient (I think). Because I have an updated computer, it won’t accept the old CD. Is anyone willing to e-mail me that recipe? They looked like brownie cookies and were kind of flat. They were SO good and Weight Watchers friendly!

BUYER BEWARE – They refuse to honor their guarantee.

I purchased this software on December 13, 2012. based on the guarantee published on their web site:

“Risk-Free 200% Guarantee Means You Can’t Lose If you are not completely satisfied with the quality of your Cook’n Software, I will refund your purchase! In fact, I will go one step further and buy you the recipe software product of your choice.”

I evaluated the software for two weeks and on December 26, I send an email to the address provided in my order confirmation stating that I would like a refund. I know they received the email because I received an out-of-the-office message stating they would reply after the holidays and wishing me a blessed Christmas season. In that email, I provided three reasons for my decision which I’ve listed below and indicated that I would like them to purchase the software of my choice “Living Cookbook”.

As of today March 4, 2013, I still have not received either a refund or the software product of my choice despite two additional emails. One sent on January 22, 2013 and one sent on February 10, 2013.

I am using Living Cookbook and find it a far superior product at about a third of the cost of Cook’n.

Here are the reasons I chose to return the product for a refund:

    1) When I view a recipe in Living Cookbook, I am able to see both the recipe ingredients and the nutrition information all at the same time. With Cook’n I have to click to a different page and scroll over to see the entire report of the nutrition data.

    2) When I print a recipe with Living Cookbook, the format is clean and simple and the nutrition information is automatically included without any extra configuration or option selection.

    3) The Living Cookbook import did not maintain the hierarchy of cookbook chapters. Recipes were placed only in the lowest level cookbook chapter.
