The more electricity you use, the more you’ll have to pay — it’s common sense, right? Unfortunately, in this tech gadget world we live in, our devices need a constant supply of electric energy to run right. You know those ‘smart’ this and that gadgets. Not to mention, the consumption of energy by these devices is likely to only increase in the future.
Fortunately, we have the sun. A lot of people are now using the sun as an alternative source of energy which is a great choice. After all, the sun is inexhaustible — all we need to do is make better use of it to save energy. Here are some of the best tips to save energy by using solar energy.
Whole House Power
Photo-electric cells are capable of providing power to your entire house. In this system, solar panels are installed on the roof of the house. These panels react with sunlight to produce an electric charge.
These panels convert the sunlight into DC current. Then, we can use an inverter to convert it into the AC current. The AC current is then sent to the main switch of the house where it powers everything.
In order to utilize solar energy at night, you can install a number of batteries to store the solar energy. This means you will be able to power your house even when there is no sunlight!
Make sure you hire a solar panel contractor who can install the solar panel properly so that you can take full advantage of all its benefits.
Light
Did you know light bulbs consume most of the world’s energy? All of us need artificial lights at night, right?
Replace regular light bulbs with solar light bulbs and save a lot of energy. These light bulbs give off just about the same light intensity as regular bulbs.
Plus, they are more durable, longer-lasting, and don’t cost too much!
Cooking Food
Solar ovens are not very common, but you can make use of them in your kitchen. Solar ovens are capable of cooking food between a temperature of 250° F to 350° F.
This is perfect considering we cook a lot of foods already in this temperature range.
Heating Swimming Pools
Use a solar heater or blanket to warm cold pool water. They simply convert the heat from the sun into the swimming pool.
Or, install a central heating system. In this system, solar panels are installed on the roof. These panels trap the sunlight, convert it into heat, and then transmit it to the pools through tubes and pipes.
Drying Clothes
To use solar energy for drying clothes, use a clothesline. In the summer, there is no need to use the dryer since the rate of evaporation is faster due to increased temperatures.
When I was a little girl, my grandparents always hung their clothes on a clothesline. It’s one of my fondest memories helping them dry clothes 🙂
Not to mention, using a dryer also releases heat, making your house warmer when it doesn’t need to be. Stay cool and use solar energy!
