We all see pictures of the perfect kitchen – clean, beautifully decorated, and effortless. In reality, it takes a lot of work and dedication to keep a kitchen that way. Here are a few easy ways to keep your kitchen clean and tidy, just like the ones you see in magazines.
Organize your Refrigerator
An organized refrigerator means food is easily accessible. Consider having dedicated shelves and draws for different items such as drinks, refrigerated snacks, and leftovers.
Place condiments and drinks in the door and place cheese and deli meats in the small draws to keep track of where your items are. Small baskets from your local dollar store are another great way to organize your food.
And, don’t forget about the outside of your refrigerator either. It shouldn’t have magnetics and papers scattered everywhere.
Adding a simple magnetic meal planner notepad and pen pouch is all you really need.
Especially, the magnetic pen holder.
Not only will this keep one less thing out of your junk drawer, but you will always have a writing instrument handy when you need it most!
This magnetic pen holder is made of high-quality imitation leather, but I swear it almost has that lovely leather smell.
The magnet is nice and strong, and the pouch is big enough to hold 2-3 pens. It holds three of my fine point Sharpie pens very nicely!
With it being a beautiful solid black color, it goes well with any color schemes you may have going on.
This set comes with two pen holders. It’s perfect for the kitchen and office!
Organize your kitchen cabinets
A lot of the time, it’s about keeping your kitchen tidy rather than clean.
How often do you misplace things and get tired of having to look for them constantly?
It is helpful to keep your kitchen cabinets organized so you can put items in their proper places. This will save you so much time looking for the utensils you need and actually spend more time cooking instead!
Empty your sink
Whenever you’re done with a dish, rinse it and put it in the dishwasher. If you don’t have a dishwasher, wash it straight away. Make this a rule in your family and purchase a sponge that automatically dispenses detergent, so it’s easier for them.
Leaving dishes in the sink makes it more difficult to clean later on and clutters up your kitchen.
Splatter and drip-proof your appliances
Always cover your food when microwaving. This is as easily done as said. Put a clean plate over any bowl of food, you’re microwaving, and if your food is on a plate, cover it with a clean bowl! This will save you so much time from having to scrub down the walls of your microwave.
When it comes to cooking with an oven, always place a tray or some baking paper at the bottom to catch the drips. This way, all you have to do is throw away the dirty baking sheet or wash the tray. It’s much easier to do than clean the actual oven!
Clean while you cook
There are so many opportunities while you’re cooking to clean up along the way. If you’re waiting for something to boil or the roast to come out of the oven, start putting away those utensils that you no longer need. Unload the dishwasher so there’s enough space for the dirty ones. Clear everything off the counters and wipe down the bench.
The worst thing is finishing your dinner and realizing you have an entire kitchen to clean up when you want to relax, so why not do it sooner than later?
Easy access to the trash bin
There are countless times where people leave trash on the counter because they can’t find the bin. Make it easier for them by making it accessible and easy to find.
You can purchase labels to stick on your cabinets if your bin is located inside.
Make it easier to throw things away by getting a bin with a foot pedal. That way, the lid of your bin won’t get dirty, and your kitchen will be kept nice and clean.
Also, consider installing a waste disposal unit to easily dispose of food without creating a mess.
Keep cleaning products accessible
Have a roll of paper towels, some dish towels, and cleaning spray handy. Regardless of how careful you are, accidents always happen, and having cleaning items ready can ensure the mess won’t get out of hand.
As always, clean up a spill the sooner, the better!
Maintenance is key to having a clean kitchen, and these are a few tips to keep your kitchen clean day-to-day. It is essential to have a weekly or monthly schedule to do some deep cleaning.
Taking care of your kitchen can ensure a clean home overall. Happy cleaning, guys!
We really love a clean and organized kitchen! Thank you so much for sharing these awesome tips!

These are such great tips! I get so lazy about organizing my kitchen cabinets and since I have kids, they just put things away carelessly without caring where the items go haha.
