8 Reasons to Adopt a Kitten From a Shelter

Modern society is too cruel to animals. Sometimes, owners throw the pets out on the street because they don't want to spend money on them. Stray cats reproduce uncontrollably, leading to overpopulation. This is why you should consider adopting a kitten. But here are eight top reasons why you should do it.

After making the decision to own a feline friend, you know have to decide to buy or adopt. Here are 8 reasons to adopt a kitten!Click To Tweet

You Are Saving a Kitten's Life

Cat lives matter. In other words, you should give a chance to abandoned animals.

By adopting a kitten, you will do your part to make this world a little better. Don't worry. The animals from the shelter are no different from those you can buy.

It's just that some kittens are unlucky enough to be born in the wrong place and at the wrong time. Do not be indifferent to the fate of a small and defenseless creature.

You'll Find Your Perfect Pet

Many shelters are packed with hundreds of cute and lovely kittens.

You can choose a pet of any age, color, or size. This gives you more options than buying a kitten.

Plus, many shelters have websites with photos, so you don't have to travel around town looking for a pet.

You Will Save Money

As a rule, you can count on low adoption fees. This is many times cheaper than the cost of a kitten at a pet store.

Plus, many shelters vaccinate animals so you can save on this. You can, then, spend some of the saved money on proper nutrition.

You Help Stop Overpopulation

All animals have a reproductive instinct. Unlike humans, cats cannot control their population on their own.

Adopting an animal from a shelter will help stop the uncontrolled increase of stray animals. Allow at least one animal to live a long and happy life free from danger, hunger, and disease.

It will not be too costly for you either. Cat food and rare visits to the veterinarian are nothing compared to the ability to make the little creature happy.

You Help Stop Cruelty

Many commercial pet-breeding facilities are very cruel to animals. The main goal of such companies is to make money.

Many kittens do not live to mature age because they aren't bought. Also, cats are constantly locked in cages and suffer from mental disorders.

If you refuse to buy a kitten from a store, this will be the first step towards saying no to mass breeding facilities.

You Encourage Others to Adopt Animals

Many people hesitate to adopt a pet due to various fears and insecurities. You can set a personal example for your friends. Adopt a kitten and share it on social media.

Animals from the shelter are no different from those that you see in your friends' houses. But your example can motivate other people to ignore mass breeding facilities.

There is nothing wrong with making money selling kittens, but you cannot torture animals with endless pregnancies and create pet overpopulation.

Your Mental Health Will Improve

Many people experience constant stress due to problems in their personal life or intense work schedules. Besides, loneliness has become the norm in modern society.

If you adopt a kitten, you will have a little faithful friend who will be waiting for you every evening after work.

Plus, cats can improve your mental health. When kittens purr, they create a sound resonance that a person hears. These sound vibrations have a beneficial effect on the nervous system and act as a sedative.

If you are mentally tired at work, then a pet can help you reduce stress levels and even get rid of depression.

You Adopt a Pet Who Has Received Good Care

Many people still believe in the stereotypes that animal shelters are a sick and infectious place. It is not true.

All shelter employees treat animals well and give vaccinations. That is why you don't have to worry about the health of an adopted kitten.

All animals go through stages of recovery, treatment, and preparation for adoption. These kittens are healthy and cheerful. This is why you have nothing to worry about.

All you need to do is take the first step and choose a pet.

Final Words

Now you know that adopting a kitten is the right decision. You can show mercy and save the life of a being who desperately needs your love.

In return, you will receive tenderness and attention that will help you cope with depression.

Plus, cute kittens are an endless source of positive emotions. If you feel empty and lonely, then you should adopt a pet. Besides, if you have children, the kitten will help them learn to be responsible and caring as well.
