It's moving day! You've packed up all your boxes, loaded them into the moving truck, and now it's time to start unloading. But as you lift that first box out of the truck, you feel a sharp pain in your back. Uh oh. It looks like you might have injured yourself while moving. If you're worried about injuring your back while moving, don't worry, you're not alone. Back injuries are one of the most common injuries associated with moving.

But there are a few things that you can do to help prevent them. This article will discuss six ways to avoid injuring your back while moving. Follow these tips, and you'll be able to move without any pain or discomfort.

Back injuries are one of the most common injuries associated with moving. But this article will discuss six ways to avoid them!Click To Tweet

Tip #01: Stretch Before You Start Moving

One of the best ways to prevent back injuries when moving is to stretch before you start moving.

Stretching helps to loosen up your muscles and get them ready for action. It can also help increase your range of motion, making it easier for you to move around.

So be sure to take some time to stretch before you start packing and moving boxes.

Tip #02: Use a Proper Lifting Technique

When lifting boxes or other items, be sure to use a proper lifting technique. This means keeping your back straight, bending at the knees, and using your leg muscles rather than your back muscles.

Using this technique will reduce the amount of stress on your back and help prevent injuries.

Tip #03: Avoid Heavy Lifting

If at all possible, try to avoid lifting heavy items. This includes boxes filled to the brim with books or other heavyweight valuables.

Instead, try to delegate the heaviest lifting tasks to someone else in your moving party (like a strapping young college student). Another option would be to use teamwork when moving anything extremely heavy or to hire professionals like Bekins Moving Solutions. That way, you can avoid putting unnecessary strain on your back.

Tip #04: Take Breaks When Moving Heavy Items

When moving heavy items, be sure to take breaks often. This will give your body a chance to rest and recover, and it will also help reduce the risk of injury.

So take a break every time you move a heavy item, and make sure to drink plenty of water and eat a healthy snack.

Tip #05: Use a moving Cart or Dolly

If you have access to a moving cart, air bag jack, or dolly, be sure to use it when moving boxes and furniture. This will help take some of the stress off your back and make it easier for you to move around.

Tip #06: Pack Lightly

Finally, one of the best ways to avoid injuring your back while moving is to pack lightly. This means avoiding packing heavy items in too many boxes.

Instead, try to pack light and use smaller boxes that are easier to lift since very few of us have a digital dynamometer on hand to measure each box's weight.

Conclusion

Moving can be a stressful experience, but you can help reduce the risk of injuring your back by following these tips. So take your time, stay patient, and use these tips to make moving day a little bit easier. Happy moving!

These are great tips for moving thanks for sharing! It can definitely be very hard on your body, especially with the stress involved. I have moved A LOT in my life and have always done all of the work. When we finally move into our own house, I plan on hiring movers for the first time.

We’ve moved a decent amount too and aren’t even military. Movers will def make the process easier and save your back when the time comes.
