iron patriot kids costumeIt's never too early to start thinking about the holidays. Halloween is about 4.5 months away and I find I get the best deals by shopping early or right after the holiday. Anytime Costumes graciously gave me a fabulous child sized Iron Patriot costume to review. I'm so thankful!

Remember reading the comics? My husband sure does. I dabbled in it some, but my husband and I sure did love the new Iron Man 3 movie. It was great! Just enough of every emotion for everyone to enjoy it. My 3 year old, however, was a bit too young to see it although he is a huge Iron Man fan. It's by far his favorite super hero! When we started asking him what he wanted to be for Halloween and showed him some pictures he picked the Iron Patriot. I think he just thinks is a fancier Iron Man with all those colors. He loves the new Iron Man costumes!

This costume features a one piece red white, and blue body suit that has built in padding for muscles in the chest and arm areas. It is made from the material (polyester) almost all Halloween costumes seem to be made out of and has a velcro closure in the back. Surprisely, it has enough velcro back there to actually close up the spot all of the way which is nice. A lot of other costumes with velcro tend to leave an unsightly gap where you can see what's underneath but not with this one.

One thing that was a little misleading to me was that on the front of the package it shows the chest reactor arc glowing and mentions that it glows. For some reason I thought this meant it was something you push to turn on and it lights up, but they meant it glows in the dark. That's my fault for assuming. I guess before we go trick or treating I will need to set his costume under some lights so we will have some nice glowing action during the big event.

The mask is made of plastic not the super flimsy kind but not really strong either. It won't withstand being stood on or anything like that. I wish it had a little better strap on it too than just a string. It's a sturdier string than some masks but still a string.

We ordered the size small 4-6 because well it was the smallest size they had. It's a little big on my son who won't be 4 till the end of this year which is expected being a boys costume and not a toddler costume. It's just long in the legs and arms which can be easily rolled up.

He just loves his costume (I think it will be perfect for this Halloween too)! He thinks it's awesome and in fact won't take it off right now. I tell him I don't want he to rip it and he needs to save it for Halloween but at the moment he's just so happy to have it on. I will have to hide it once he takes it off in hopes of saving it for the big day.

What are your kids a fan of? Do they like knights? Or Mario? Toy Story? What is your all time favorite Halloween costume that you have had? I remember I was a cat for several years as kid.

Disclosure: I was given this product to review, however, I received no monetary compensation to do so. All opinions and thoughts are 100% my own and completely honest.

Not boring. My mom used to have a punk rocker wig she always wore. It’s fun no matter what you dress up as.

The best costume I have ever made was my CERTS costume. I eat Certs all the time, and one year, when deciding what to “go as” for Hallowe’en, my friend suggested this. I took a white sheet, dyed it pink, and used black magic markers, white-out, and bingo dabber ink to “decorate” it like a roll of Certs. I also used a bent wire coat hanger to make it cylindrical, and made straps out of pipe cleaners. The end product was terrific!

The following year, I wore the same costume. That year, my boyfriend made and dressed up as a pack of gum.

Me, too…but unfortunately, I don’t have any, and during one of my moves, my costume got wet and ended up “bleeding”, basically ruining it, and so I had to throw it away. But the memories I have are great!

My most common Halloween costumes over the years were punk-rocker, witch, or hobo. I must have done each one at least three times. When I got older, I once dressed as Dr. Frank-N-Furter as well as Gene Simmons from Kiss.

Excellent idea, to get you Halloween shopping in early, but 4 -5 months is still “forever” in a child’s mind. What if he forgets or wants to be something else, when October comes around?

That is very true. The trick is that he has no other option once Halloween comes along. They are talked to about this when we are choosing a costume early. We haven’t had any problems so far.

How adorable! I love kids in costumes. It is amazing how simple it is to get them excited by just dressing them up. When I was younger, my mother always kept dress up clothes for my sister and I to play in and we could spend all day dressed up however we liked. Those were the good ol’ days. Now I hate getting dressed at all haha.

Those were the days! Playing dress up is still fun to me except my dress up is trying clothes on at stores.
