This yoga wear post was created in partnership with Aktiv. I was not financially compensated for this post but did receive a sample for review purposes. As always, all opinions are entirely my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support me!
How To Choose Yoga Wear That Actually Works

When you are doing tough yoga squats such as a Tadasana or attempting a new yoga pose, your clothes may not give you the needed stretch. Tight clothes make yoga practice uncomfortable. That’s why your yoga wear should be flexible and breathable for easy asana movement.

While buying yoga outfits depends on personal preferences, yoga practice also helps decide what works best between yoga pants or shorts. A form-fitting top that won’t hang over you in your head-down position is cooler than a tight top bursting at the seams.

Choosing yoga wear can be hard and confusing. Make things easier by checking out this guide! Click To Tweet

The rise of trendy athleisure is making yoga more comfortable, stretchy, and casual. Along with yoga, cannabis also helps in getting better results while working out and relieving stress. CBD oil and gummies are both excellent options.

But before you start these healthy alternatives, you can see the difference between CBD Oil and CBD gummies, know the right yoga attire for your daily practice.

Yoga Attire For Your Body Comfort

Any yoga workout should have the following wearables to get complete stretchable freedom from head to toe. Know your size and comfort level before choosing any item of yoga wear.

Look up reviews and do an experience check from your fellow yoga partners before finalizing yoga wear.

1. Yoga leggings

yoga stretch

Yoga attire makers offer various styles and fit in yoga pants. Look for yoga pants that comfort you and are not tight to your skin when you stretch.

Leggings range from full-length to mid-calf. Nylon-spandex-polyester pants are an excellent choice as they move with your postures.

If you are keen on high-coverage wear to hide your bulging tummy, think of high-waist leggings or pants. They are less likely to slip during your inverted poses.

Currently, we are loving the high-waisted Wisteria Leggings by Moonchild Yoga Wear. They feature a stunning floral pattern that goes up the side of the leg and has an optional matching crop top.

The Wisteria Leggings and Crop Top are made from polyamide and elastane making them extremely flexible and breathable. These are a heavier weight material and give some compression which we love.

We found the set comfortable to wear and absolutely love its design.

As for fit, take their suggestion and order a size up if you are between sizes. In most pants, I wear a 6. However, if you can wear a 7 in any brand (which I can) I would go ahead and purchase the size M 8. You'll get a more comfortable fit this way.

Moonchild Yoga Wear can be purchased on Aktiv, a high-quality Scandinavian clothing line that features active and outdoor wear. It's practical and has a style you're going to love!

For slower yoga classes, like restorative yoga, think of buying loose-fitting pants. When wearing loose-fitting pants, secure them around the ankle. For power yoga, choose practice outfits that do not obstruct mobility.

2. Yoga shorts

When you have a stretchy bending practice coming up, choose a pair of shorts with built-in liners to avoid in-practice embarrassment. You can also find longer shorts reaching the knee, which gives suitable coverage during your inverted poses.

Spandex yoga shorts for women do not provide good cover-ups in intricate poses. But some ladies find spandex comfortable in summers to combat heat and sweat.

Avoid wearing see-through and baggy bottoms in your hot yoga class. And, drop the idea of wearing cotton fabric in yoga shorts.

Aim to get more extended coverage for your legs while shopping for yoga shorts. Summers may make you concentrate more on comfort. Consider how that will look while putting your legs up in the air for an inverted pose.

3. Yoga tops

Most like to wear form-fitting tops or T-shirts that give a snug fit around the waist. The narrow fit it delivers prevents your top from falling over your head in your forward-poses.

Shop breathable yoga tops with soft seams for sweaty classes in the humid season. Avoid itchy wear that is not conducive to under-your-armpits.

Some new generation tank tops come with in-built sports bras. Test your yoga top by reaching out to your toes to identify any gaps in the top fitting. If so, buy a top with a tighter fit.

Cotton is soft and airy, but its flexibility may make you overly self-conscious.

4. Yoga winter jackets

Winters are all about hot chocolate and woolly wrap-around. But a morning yoga asana helps get your body to come out of lethargy and fight the winter chill.

Look for a yoga cover-up such as a winter jacket or sweatshirt. It's good after a sweaty class in the middle of winter.

Extra-layer jackets can keep the winter vibes away as you leave the warming room. Make sure you have your winter wardrobe ready for pre-and-post yoga.

5. Sports bras

Your breast coverage and style needs will help you narrow down your choice of a sports bra. High-intensity classes require more chest support, considering the amount of downward bending and twisting. Low-intensity classes like yin yoga need low support levels.

Many female yoga practitioners are only wearing sports bras, without a tank top or t-shirt on top. This is a new frequent trend in sweatier classes.

With the coming of yoga shirts and tank tops having built-in bras, fashion and comfort are almost running parallel.

6. Yoga socks

Wearing socks in a yoga class is not mandatory. Some yogis wear it to avoid slip-off on the yoga mat.  While there are yoga toe socks, there are full-coverage socks with plastic threads on the bottom to prevent sliding and slippage.

If you are not keen to do yoga with socks under your feet, buy a non-slip yoga mat. You can also cover your yoga mat with a sweat-absorbent yoga towel.

Final Thoughts

Modern-day yogis are wearing yoga clothes for more fashion than function. While funky colors, mesh cut-outs, and wild patterns are the in-thing in yoga gear, compromising garments’ flexibility and comfort are silly.

When you are trying yoga attire, attempt a few yoga poses at home or in the yoga studio dressing room in them to test the garment’s ease in a stretch. While aesthetics are important, comfort is king.

Have you gotten on the athleisure train yet?
