My husband loves to play golf when he gets the chance. Unfortunately for him that doesn't happen very often. There's always something that ends up trumping his golf outings. The kids activities keep our schedule jam packed and if it's something that we've paid for they are going – golf can wait.
Other times golfing just isn't possible especially in Kentucky. The weather has a big impact on whether golfing is even possible or not. In Kentucky you can probably only really play golf on a regular basis from May to maybe November. Rain or cold weather tends to get in the way the rest of the time.
I bet if we lived in South Florida he wouldn't have nearly as many golf conflicts. Oh, how my husband would love to live there. He can't stand the cold weather. Golfing is a year round sport in Florida because it's always warm and toasty. What a concept.
There's also quite a bit more golf country clubs due to the weather. You always hear about retirees moving to Florida to soak in the sun and play golf everyday – my husband's dream! I just know if we lived in Florida he'd become part of a golf club ASAP or would try to live in a golfing community. I can see the ups and downs to that idea.
He'd have a field day with all of the great golf country clubs but I would then have an invisible husband. Not sure that would fly but golfing every now and then is a great past time for him. I like that he likes it but I wouldn't want him to be consumed with it. I would miss my best friend.
I remember when he was younger and was so consumed with video games. I was that nagging wife complaining about them but as he aged he only plays them not even half the time he used to. I would worry about golf doing the same thing but the only reason I know it wouldn't is because golf is expensive. It just wouldn't happen.
So for now I'll put my worries away and let him have his fun. While golfing in Florida is the dream he'll have to deal with warmer weather elsewhere – Texas. He'll have plenty of warm weather to get some golf in. And on those 100+ days I know just where my husband will be – somewhere inside with me and an ice cold drink.
