recycling

Earth is our home. But in spite of living on this beautiful planet and reaping the benefits of everything that it has to offer to us, most people do not acknowledge the simple fact that there is no alternative planet that can support our existence.

Human beings have grown increasingly selfish. They are consumed by their selves and know nothing but the satisfaction of the self. The more they get, the more they want, and the obnoxious cycle of greed continues.

This greed and self-centered nature of humans have pushed the planet to the brink of annihilation. We only have twelve more years to combat climate change before the damages are permanent.

We only have a limited number of days to reverse the damages before the planet spirals into oblivion, and we are reduced to molecules and atoms. The idea behind this article is to raise more awareness about how we could all do our part in saving the Earth’s resources through recycling.

Why Recycling?

As kids, we were taught the importance of recycling. But, as we grew up and got busy with our lives, the lessons we learned started getting lost on us.

But we should have done better. The entire humankind should have done better.

Recycling should be a part of our lives as much as other daily chores. That is the only way you can reduce waste and use the Earth’s resources optimally. Recycling helps in maintaining the Earth’s balance and assists in keeping every ecosystem in just the condition they should be.

Helps Keep the Environment Clean

Just as we have already discussed in the previous sections, recycling helps in maintaining the balance of the environment and helps in reducing waste. Reducing waste, by default, means keeping the environment clean.

The moment we take up the responsibility of recycling waste and use the waste to create something new, we take a step towards keeping the planet clean and green. That is the wonder of the process of recycling.

Saves Energy

The extraction of raw resources takes a lot of energy. However, when you recycle items, you save resources and do not have to start the process of extraction from scratch.

The materials that you hope to make use of are already half-baked and require much less energy to be expended. Thus, if the cleanliness of the environment was not a good enough reason for you, maybe the idea of saving energy with recycling should egg you on to act responsibly.

Recycling Helps Conserve Resources

Recycling helps in conserving the Earth’s resources. The more you recycle, the lesser would you require to use the resources that the Earth has to offer.

We are so busy living our lives in a bubble that we have almost forgotten the very fact that most of the resources that we use are finite. They will die out one day or the other. Therefore, it is vital to use these resources frugally.

Once we grow the habit of recycling the planet’s resources, we shall contribute towards not only eliminating waste but also preserving these valuable resources. Recycling is a way of taking a step towards sustainable living.

There is no limit to human greed. And as the days pass by, we keep spiraling out of control. However, this is probably the time to pay attention to our actions and take up the mantle of protecting the environment. Recycling and reusing serve as one of those means, and we must not be negligent anymore!
