Creative Ways to Keep Kids Busy While You Are Working at Home

Working from home can be tricky, especially when you have kids. The challenge is that children always need your attention. Due to their constant distractions, achieving your work productivity may be challenging. Of course, the most ideal scenario would be to search for a preschool near me and have your child there but it's not always possible. However, it's possible to work without too many interruptions by keeping the kids busy as you finish your tasks. Here are a few things that can get the job done.

Assign Them Tasks

If you have older kids, you can assign them engaging tasks that will also teach them responsibility.

For example, you can tell your child to water the garden or clean their room. Whatever the chore is, just make sure they can handle the work. If the task is too hard or complicated, you can bet they will be asking you for help.

For your pre-school child, give them an ‘important task' such as drawing a family portrait for grandma. When you make them feel that the drawing is vital, they will take their time, in turn giving you space to finish your work.

Encourage Your Children to Play Outside

Kids' outdoor play gives children the chance to improve their creativity while having fun. There are many different activities that your children can do.

Some outdoor games include cycling, rope jumping, building castles, pretend, and trampolines. You can turn your backyard into a playground so you can keep an eye on your kids while you work.

Outdoor play equipment is available nearly everywhere. Just check online and at your local retailers. You could even try getting a gel ball blaster to play with your friends and family.

To make the games more interesting, you and your neighbor can organize a playdate. The kids can rotate by playing in your yard during certain times, then heading to the neighbors at the other times.

It can be hard to get anything done when you have kids begging for your attention. Here are a few tricks to keep the kiddos busy while you work at home. Click To Tweet

Encourage Reading

You can encourage your child to read to keep them busy. Buy them their favorite books that will educate and entertain.

Make reading enjoyable by encouraging them to read in different locations like the backyard or under a table.

If your children are older, you can create a book club where you and your child read the same book. You can read the book individually and then assign a time for book discussion.

You can get e-books from oxford owl, kindle unlimited, and audible. These sources have books for children of all ages.

As they read, you can also encourage them to write. Through reading and writing, you may end up nurturing an author.

Encourage your child to write letters to their friends instead of texting to lessen screen time.

Introduce Brain Games

Puzzles are a great way to keep your child occupied and stimulate their mind. Allow them to play alone, and you can assist when you are free.

Your kids can also create their own puzzles using materials within the house. Remember, there are all kinds of puzzles besides the popular jigsaw variety.

Have an Indoor Picnic

You can buy your kids a tent and allow them to camp indoors. Organize food and snacks beforehand so they can picnic when the need arises. This is a fun activity that can keep them entertained for hours if you prep correctly.

Having your children around as you work from home can be stressful, but with some planning, it can be done. Good luck!
