Dark Chocolate Chunk Cookies With Sea Salt
Dark Chocolate Chunk Cookies are the perfect soft cookie, using dark chocolate and a secret ingredient - sea salt. It goes perfectly with a glass of Organic Valley Milk!
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter partially melted
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed; light or dark
- 2 eggs
- 2.5 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 375 grams all purpose flour
- 1 cup dark chocolate chunks
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- sea salt flakes optional garnish
Instructions
Microwave butter for about 40 seconds, or until it's almost melted but not hot.
Combine the sugars and butter in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Then, beat on medium speed for about two minutes until light yet creamy.
After adding the eggs, vanilla, salt, and baking powder to the mixture,, beat on low until it is all incorporated; this will take approximately 13 seconds.
Use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl as needed, then add flour. Mix on low speed until crumbs form or the ingredients are just combined.
Use your hands to evenly incorporate the dark chocolate chunks and chips into the dough.
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to make 24 dough balls, spacing them 2 inches apart on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Wrap the cookie sheet in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour (or up to overnight).
Let the cookie dough rest at room temperature while the oven preheats to 350°F. Bake for 11-13 minutes or until golden around the edges.
Take the cookies out of the oven. Press a few chocolate chunks into the top of each cookie, then let them cool on the pan for 25-30 minutes. Sprinkle them with sea salt if desired. Once they're cooled, store them in an airtight container and enjoy!
P.S. Dark Chocolate Chunk Cookies make for a great gift too – why not bake up a batch and give them to someone special? They'll love it!
