1. Synthetic wigs

Synthetic wigs are made from artificial fibers designed to resemble real hair and are usually less expensive than human hair as well as easier to care for. This is because synthetic wigs are pre-styled and require less maintenance.

However, they are not as durable as human hair wigs and can be more challenging to style on your own. Heat and synthetic wigs aren't really friends, so you have to be careful when using heated styling tools.

2. Human hair wigs

Human hair wigs are made from real human hair and provide the most natural-looking and realistic option. They can be dyed, curled, or straightened like your own natural hair. Hair for these wigs is typically collected from a donor and is then hand-tied to create the wig.

The advantage of wearing a human hair wig is that it looks and feels more natural than synthetic wigs. However, all of this comes at a cost. These wigs are not cheap, and you will have to spend more time on them since they aren't pre-styled. You may want to purchase products specifically made for human hair wigs to keep them in the best condition.

You can find numerous types of human hair wigs, including 613 wig, body wave hair wigs, and many more.

3. Lace front wigs

Lace front wigs are made with a thin lace material at the front that covers your forehead and part of your scalp. The rest of the wig is made of synthetic or human hair. The base of the wig is adjustable so that you can customize your fit and styling.

The advantage of lace front wigs is that they provide a very natural-looking hairline. This type of wig, especially bundles with closure hairpieces, also allows for more breathability, which is good for those with sensitive scalps.

On the downside, they can limit certain parts and hairstyles due to the design. In addition, they can damage your natural hair if not properly attached or removed.

4. Full lace wigs

Full lace wigs are similar to lace front wigs, but the entire wig is made of a thin lace material. This type of wig allows for more styling options since you can part the hair in any direction. But, these kinds of wigs are very expensive since most are handmade and made with the best hair.

Typically, they are glued or taped onto the scalp, so it is important to make sure that you are comfortable with the application process before investing in a full lace wig. However, some have straps and combs for a secure fit.

5. Monofilament wigs

Monofilament wigs feature a mesh cap with individual fibers that are hand-tied to fit for a natural-looking scalp. This type of wig is designed to move and feel just like your own hair, so it can be worn for longer periods of time without discomfort.

However, since these wigs are made with delicate fibers, they may require extra care to keep them in good condition.

How to put on a wig

Putting on a wig is easier than you think! Here's a step-by-step guide:

1. Brush your hair back and secure it with a headband or clip.

2. Put on your wig cap and make sure it fits snugly against your head.

3. Place the front of the wig at your natural hairline.

4. Adjust the straps on the back or sides for a secure fit.

5. Style the wig as desired.

And that's it! Now you're ready to rock your new wig. With a little practice and patience, you'll soon be a pro at putting on wigs. Good luck!

Final thoughts

These types of wigs give you the freedom to create a variety of looks and, with the right products, can be kept in great condition for years. All types of wigs are available in a range of styles, colors, and lengths, so you can find the perfect one to suit your individual needs. Whether it’s for a special occasion or everyday use, wigs can help you feel and look your best!
