Typically pecan pies make me think of Thanksgiving while fruit cakes put Christmas on my mind. The nice thing about a Deep Dish Fudge Pecan Pie is that it's a super versatile dessert. You could have it for Thanksgiving or Christmas, a birthday, or just an after dinner dessert. It a great finish to any meal!
Collin Street Bakery paired a chewy fudge with a yummy pecan topping. Pecans lightly swim throughout the fudge as well giving it the perfect balance. Being a lover of Collin Street Bakery's Deep Dish Pecan Pie I can say that this pie is different from that classic but just as good. There's not an over abundance of chocolate taste and it's less gooey than a traditional pecan pie (since it lacks the custard) but has that pecan pie flair and overall taste.
Everyone one that tried it at Thanksgiving loved it. My dad described it as a “dryer pecan pie” while my grandmother thought it was fabulous as she doesn't like custard pecan pies. My father argued with my grandmother that it didn't have chocolate in it but she kept trying to show him. I think the wine was talking for my father at that point and no one was going to win a battle with him. Either way he kept on shoving the pie in his face. AND of course my son gobbled it up. He loves any pecan pie and this one was scrumptious! It's a winner!!!
