Chaparral Ice
The Chaparral Ice rink is different from most ice arenas because it used to be a popular shopping mall. The mall closed down, which left a big, open space for a new facility to be brought in. Because this arena was previously a shopping mall, there is so much more room inside.
There are bigger locker rooms, a nicer lobby, and they even had full-size Olympic ice put inside the rink. Olympic-sized ice is not common because of how big it is.
So a fun family activity that you could do at the ice arena is going and signing up for a public skating session and teaching the young ones how to skate.
Mount Bonnell
Mount Bonnell is one of Austin's most popular places to visit. There are fun activities for all ages, including kids. There are acres upon acres of open land for kids to run around and get a breath of that fresh Texas air.
One of the most popular attractions at Mount Bonnell is Covert Park.
Covert Park is the city's highest point, and there are some spectacular views at the peak. The best park about Covert Park is that there are only 102 stairs to get to the top, and this means that all the little ones are more than capable of completing the climb.
Inner Space Cavern
Not only is the Inner Space Cavern one of the coolest places in all of Austin, but it also has an incredible story associated with it. The Inner Space Cavern was discovered by construction building a freeway. So one of the most popular attractions for kids in the entire city was found entirely by accident.
Most kids love to explore, and taking them to a real-life cave might spark their imagination and creativity.
Plus, one of the great things about the Inner Space Cavern is that it is also very educational for young people. The staff teaches people about the different minerals that create the unique shape of the cave.
Patterson Park
When you think about the parks your kids love to go to, you are most likely picturing a smaller version of Patterson Park. This is because Patterson Park has so much to offer small children, including an extensive playground, a skate park, and even huge fields to run around and play different games and sports.
Patterson Park is the perfect place to end a big day and let the kids let loose and have fun for a little bit. Plus, as a bonus, they will be tired when they get back home.
Austin is an excellent place for kids to experience the outdoors. If you are in the market for new places to live and want a kid-friendly place, there are so many amazing houses for rent in Austin.
