COVID-19 has now been around for a while, so you would think that we would all be well versed in finding fun things to do by ourselves at home, but that’s just not how it is feeling lately.
I know it’s not just me, but I am finding myself kind of bored with all of the new hobbies I decided to take up last year. I’m ready for some new stuff to keep me busy during downtime.
No matter the reason for trying to find fun stuff to do, it’s important to spend your time in a way that brings you happiness and joy.
That is especially true when you are a parent of a little one, homeschooling kids, or working from home. These things take a significant amount of time and energy, so you must take time for yourself.

Even though it seems like we have been spending a lot of alone time over this last year, the reality is, much of this time hasn’t been spent for ourselves. The key here is to take the time that you need to decide precisely what you want to do.
Suppose you are like me and probably a majority of the people reading this. In that case, most of the activities you do throughout the day (even the fun ones) are scheduled purposefully for the kids or your spouse and not necessarily with your needs in mind.
It’s time to change that!
Find a new game to entertain yourself when you are alone
If you like to play games, you should check out Plays.org and see what fun games you can find to play! They have well over 100 different types of games, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding a fun game for yourself.
New games are added almost daily and the website is super easy to navigate with their category-based navigation in the footer.
Entertain yourself when you are alone with an online painting course
There are countless painting courses online, or you can even hop onto YouTube and follow Bob Ross or another painting guru and paint your own masterpiece.
This one is great for lowering stress.
Treating yourself to a spa day is a great thing to do by yourself indoors
No need to spend a fortune at the spa. You can create a spa day with just a couple of supplies.
You will need some candles, a lovely face mask and a mani/Pedi set, and a playlist of your favorite music. Light the candles and enjoy a nice, long uninterrupted bath.
Put on a facemask and recline in your favorite chair or your pillow-filled bed while listening to your spa playlist and continue spoiling yourself from there.
Treating yourself to this can turn your entire week around.
Starting a garden is a fun thing to do by yourself at home outside
If you have outdoor space, you can easily put it to work for you! How? Well, by you working your land, of course.
Okay, but seriously spending time outside working in your yard or a garden may seem like you aren’t resting at all, but in fact, you are resetting your mind.
It is good for you to get the fresh air and sunshine, and there is just something great about getting your hands dirty and creating something beautiful.
A puzzle adventure is a fun thing to do by yourself at home at night
Since the beginning of the pandemic, people have developed a new appreciation for puzzles. There is a good reason for this.
Puzzles can be fun, many are just beautiful to look at, and honestly, there is a tremendous sense of accomplishment that takes over when you finish one.
Learn something new
While we may have balked at the idea of learning for fun as kids, the older I get, the more I realize how much fun it is to learn!
In today’s technologically advanced age, it is so easy to sign up for classes online or watch videos to learn just about anything you want!
Do a deep clean
Okay, okay, I know this doesn’t sound fun, but you know what is fun? Having a clean home and more space!
It is actually more than fun. It can reduce stress and increase your productivity at home when you have less to worry about.
I highly recommend doing this several times a year to boost your energy and mood.
