There was one thing I knew when I was pregnant with my son, my mother wouldn't be a future babysitter. My mom was an alcoholic my whole life and that definitely wasn't something I wanted to expose my kids to.
Sadly, my children never really got to know my mother, her good side. My oldest son only saw her a handful of times and she passed away shortly before I became pregnant with my second son. My son was only two when she passed so he doesn't have any memory of her. I don't even think I have a picture of them together.
Just because they never knew her doesn't mean I want them to think she never existed. I tell them the good things about her. The things I liked about her, her personality and humor. As you probably know, Grandparent's Day is right around the corner and I wanted my boys to make something for my mother's grave.

Directions
Using a paint brush, paint your child's entire hand with paint. I used an Acrylic Paint Set by Mood Lab. It comes with 12 high-quality paint filled tubes that are non-toxic so you don't have to worry about using it on your kids.
The colors are nice and bright while the paint itself is thick. This thickness made applying the paint to my kiddos hands very easy. When it came time to wash off the paint, it just rinsed off with water without staining their hands. Would highly recommend!
Once your child's hand is covered in paint, press it on the planter. I did my planter in a pattern since I have two children. I alternated their handprints, each having a different color.
While the handprints are drying you can go ahead and print the sign here. Cut them out and attach one to a wooden stick using tape. I used wooden skewers meant for kabobs. They were just the right length and already had a point to shove into the dirt.
Find a nice flowered plant, place it in the pot, and you are good to go. I hope the grandparents in your life have a wonderful day!
Interesting concept. Cute bucket.
