This post was created in partnership with Trustech, Plantscape Inc, and Canvas On The Cheap. As always, all opinions are entirely my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support me!
When I first started working at home, I didn't have an office (and I guess technically I still don't). Back then I usually worked in bed or on my couch (the dream, right?).
SO not a dream!
It ended up giving me horrible hip, back, and leg pains. I decided enough was enough and turned my guest room into my office. We only have guests a couple of times a year so it didn't make sense not multi-use the room.
I flipped the platform bedroom (this is the one I have in the room) against the wall and made the rest of the room my own. Here are some simple home office inspiration ideas that will hopefully have you skip the mistake I made.
Home Office Inspiration Idea 1: Get the Air Moving
First things first, this room has the worst ventilation in the whole house. It is always SO hot in here even when the rest of the house feels okay. It's partially because this room is downstairs and the downstairs is my 92-year-old grandfather's domain. So needless to say he's always cold so downstairs is always WAY hotter than upstairs where we control the AC.
This meant my ‘office' needed a fan. I am currently using this beauty – the Trustech Oscillating Tower Fan. It's perfect for my small office space because it's sleek design doesn't take up much room and it is very quiet.
I love that this fan has three different speeds (low, medium, or high) and three different breeze modes. This means I can kick the speed up if grandpa is feeling extra chilly and turn on the normal breeze mode. The other two breeze modes are sleep and natural which give intermittent blowing while the normal breeze is constant.
The Trustech Oscillating Tower Fan has a remote. Yes! That means I don't even have to stop working to cool things off cause lord knows sometimes by the afternoon I am sweating up a storm.
When I first received the Trustech Oscillating Tower Fan one of the base pieces was wrong. This meant I couldn't set up the fan which to me meant it was broken. It does me no use blowing on the floor on its side! I contacted their customer service and told them about my issue. They said they had no problem sending me the missing base piece.
When I got the package in the mail it was a whole new fan. They sent me an entirely new fan with the correct pieces! I was shocked and thrilled I could finally cool my office off.
If you are in the market for a new fan, I highly recommend the Trustech Oscillating Tower Fan. It looks great and if you have a problem they will try their best to fix it!
Home Office Inspiration Idea 2: Find What Motivates You
Speaking of home office inspiration — the next thing every office needs is motivation. Let's face it, work isn't the most fun thing in the world to do. It can be flat out stressful sometimes, yet you still have to push forward. That's why I love these canvases from Canvas on the Cheap!
Canvas on the Cheap sells high-quality canvases – for yes that's right – SUPER cheap! You can get a HUGE 30″ x 40″ canvas for only $47.98 – such a great deal! I was sent THREE 16″ x 20″ canvases with a TOTAL COST of $52.80. Isn't that a great price?
These guys are top-notch quality too. Most canvases do not have a picture hanger, but these do! They are also a nice thickness, not thin or flimsy.
The site was very easy to use too. I just ordered some printable quotes off Etsy and then uploaded them to Canvas on the Cheap.
From there you can select several upgrades like the wrap, framing, mounting or backing options. Add it all to your cart and within a few days, you'll be admiring museum quality art pieces in your own home!
I truly love them! And I am confident you will too!!
Home Office Inspiration Idea 3: Bring in Some Life
I love to have a little greenery in every room. Most of the time this takes the form of a fake plant or flowers.
However, I do have three live plants in my house — not of my own doing, though, of course. I typically kill plants but these guys seem to be pretty hardy, thankfully. My grandmother gave me two and the third was left by my mother in law when she lived here.
I'm proud to say they've been alive over 4 years now — they must not like a lot of water 😉
I'm much more fond of these adorable succulent plants, though. They're fake, but they look pretty real, right? In fact, they seem SO real that my cats try to nibble on them.
I don't what it is but they make me happy when I see them. They add just the right amount of green to my office — all without needing any water or maintenance EVER. That's my kind of plant!
Home Office Inspiration Idea 4: Find the Right Desk
Need home office inspiration for a desk? I know a great one. The desk I have is perfect for bloggers! It's the Hudson 16-Cube Shelf with Desk. If you're a blogger like me, you get A LOT of mail. I'm forever receiving packages. Before I had this desk, I piled them up in my closet. It was far from organized.
However, with this desk, everything has a spot! Plus the desk portion is perfect for my laptop or as a place to take pictures. It's a winner!
The desk can be placed in the center of a room or a corner. Since this is a small guest room, I put it in the corner — it has just one problem, though. Since it's in the corner, my floating shelves block one of my cubbies.
This leaves that cube pretty useless as I can't put a bin in it. SO I decided to put some decorative balls in it! Technically, these are ornaments but they go so well with my office theme — that's where they live. Plus whenever I get tired of them sprucing up my office they can go with my Christmas stash. SCORE!
When a room can be dual-purpose, it’s a win-win! Your office is lovely! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Too bad I had to move it and take over my husband’s old space. It’s not as feminine with his huge executive desk. I miss that space!
I like your office. I especially like the wall quotes. Those inspire!
Thanks, Tamra! The quotes make me smile 🙂
