What to Know About a Vertical Facelift
It is no secret that over the years age, sun exposure, and smile lines, show up on our face. As we age our features begin to descend, our skin begins to flatten and dull.
Over time, we all begin to lose:
- bone density in our face
- facial muscles
Everything our faces are exposed to year after year and the natural aging progression, naturally causes our faces to look a little less bright, youthful, and healthy. It can cause people to wrestle with their self-esteem and become genuinely unhappy with how their faces look. It can take a toll on a person’s overall happiness and how they feel about themselves as a whole.
There is no reason to be left feeling like this. Just because you’ve gained some joyous years of wisdom does not mean you should be left feeling self-conscious. There are some incredibly easy ways to keep the years from reaching your face like the vertical facelift.
The vertical facelift is very noninvasive and leaves the patient with virtually no scars at all. This procedure avoids the common issue of your face ending up looking unnaturally pulled too tight.
If you’ve never undergone a cosmetic procedure, the thought of getting a vertical face job can be intimidating. For most people, it is going into the unknown of the surgery that frightens them.
Gaining insight and learning about the procedure can put you at ease before getting the facelift done. Below is a full description of how the surgery is performed so you can walk in without any fear of what lies ahead.
The Procedure Itself
As the procedure begins, your doctor, whose education and background you should have thoroughly checked out before asking them to perform the surgery on your face, will begin start by separating the skin from the tissue underlying it. Your medically trained doctor will then elevate the facial muscles that lie under the tissue and vertically reposition them.
They will then place the facial muscles vertically. This is the direction in which our muscles naturally age, rather than aging in a lateral direction. This vertical aging is why we have the sagging effect on our faces as we age.
When they reposition them back to their former position it gives a final result of looking naturally youthful again. When the muscles are once again moved vertically to where they once were, it can also lift the neck muscles once again and give it a nice contoured look.
The final look will allow the jawline to be much more defined and give a tight, young, and seamless look all the way from the face to the neck. You will love how bright and naturally youthful you look once again.
Will There Be Scars?
It is of utmost importance for the doctor to handle the skin properly and place the incision in the exact right position so that the final result is truly “scarless.” The actual truth is that any type of facelift comes with incisions, obviously.
But what most people do not know is that they do not have to have large ugly scars. The way to get through a minor surgery without unsightly scars all depends on how precise the doctor works.
This is why in a vertical facelift the skin is very gently lifted but is laid right back down over the tissue. This allows the skin to look lifted and fresh without the skin looking stretched or pulled too taught. When the doctor gently puts the skin back without having put any tension or extra stretching on it, it is allowed to go back and gently sit on the incision line thereby allowing the paper thin incisions to heal almost completely invisible.
The incisions are closed by using sutures that are small and very fine. The sutures are put in slowly so that they are barely wider than the initial incision was also minimizing scars.
When you take your time to research and find the right plastic surgeon you can come out with a result that leaves you looking naturally youthful and rejuvenated.
