How to Make Sure Your Glasses Fit

When you buy your glasses from an in-person optician, they’ll be able to help you find your perfect fit. But sometimes, you simply can’t find the frames of your dreams in store, so you head to the internet. While there are some excellent quality specs for sale on the world wide web, it can be tough to know whether they’ll fit. Luckily, you can do some simple things at home to make sure your glasses are as comfortable as possible when they arrive.

If you’re a new eyeglasses wearer, you won’t know what to look for when it comes to making sure your glasses fit. This blog will help you to recognize your perfect pair when you come across them.

Properly fit glasses are not only essential for comfort, but also play an important role in the quality of your vision. Make sure to follow these tips! Click To Tweet

PD Measurements

Measuring your pupillary distance (PD) might sound like something technical, but it’s pretty simple to do at home. You’ll need to download or buy a special ruler and use it to measure your pupils while standing in front of a mirror.

Make sure you repeat this process a few times, as you might be a little off on the first go. If you keep getting the same number, there’s a good chance you’ve got it right.

Glasses Arm Length

The arm length of your eyeglasses will have a significant impact on how securely they fit. If you have an existing pair of glasses, it’s easy to measure their arm length and apply it to your new pair.

But if you’re new to glasses, you can estimate the distance between your temple to behind your ears. When trying on your new eyeglasses, make sure the arms don’t feel too tight, as this will be uncomfortable after long periods.

How Tight Should Glasses Fit On The Bridge

If the bridge of your eyeglasses isn’t in the right place, your glasses will seem skewed.

It should sit neatly on your nose without pinching. Equally, you shouldn’t have to keep pushing your glasses up all day long either.

The bridge of your glasses keeps the lenses aligned, so it’s crucial it feels comfortable and stays in place. If you have marks on your nose after trying on your eyeglasses, this could be a sign that they’re too tight.

How Wide Should Glasses Be

Having the correct frame width will mean your eyes are appropriately aligned with your lenses. If the width is too short or too long, this could mean you’re not getting the full benefit of your eyeglasses, and your vision won’t be corrected.

The width of your glasses should be a little bit wider than your face rather than perfectly in line with it. Check that this extra space isn’t any bigger than the width of one of your fingers, though.

While it’s great if you can get the size of your eyeglasses right before trying them on, many online glasses retailers will offer easy returns as they know some glasses will fit better than others.

Make sure you take some measurements before making a purchase but don’t be afraid of buying a few different styles to see which is best.

That’s great you wear glasses for the computer even though you don’t have a prescription. I wish more people would take care of their eyes like you do!
