Office parties are a great way to celebrate the end of the year while saying thank you to your employees. These events can be stressful, but they will be a success if planned right! Here are some tips for planning an office party that people will love!

Have a Variety of Food and Drink Options

Decide on what type of food you want. This is very important because it affects other aspects like budgeting and timing.

When it comes to holiday parties, it's crucial to create an environment that feels inclusive to everyone in your office. You need to consider things like some people may not drink, have a disability, or have dietary restrictions. Brainstorm different ways to address these preferences or needs someone in your office may have.

Make it a point to provide different snack or food options as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. By accommodating different dietary needs, employees will feel included. It's also important to let everyone know they're all welcome and to let you know if they have any special needs or requests to accommodate.

Provide a Designated Driver for Your Company Christmas Party

If you're planning on serving alcohol at the office party, take it upon yourself to ensure every employee gets home safely. Never let anyone drink and drive! Though it may not feel like something you should be responsible for, you should still hold yourself accountable.

For example, if an employee drank too much, call a taxi service to drive them home. At the end of the day, you are solely responsible for what happens to your employees at a party in your office building!

Set an Office Party Dress Code

Give your office party a sense of community by setting a holiday dress code. For example, hosting an ugly Christmas sweater contest can bring people together to raise money for a charitable cause while allowing employees to have fun. People go crazy for these giant light-up Christmas bulb necklaces.

It's essential, however, to establish a type of dress code for holiday attire. This is especially true as some T-shirts or sweaters are designed with offensive adult humor in mind. If your employees will interact with customers throughout the day, all the more reason to set some ground rules! Give your employees a nudge in the right direction by mailing out e-invites and discussing these established guidelines.

Plan Ahead and Enjoy the Holiday Party

Communication and planning ahead for the event can go a long way in making sure that everyone enjoys the holiday party. Having ideas in place for the event from the start will ensure the festivities never get out of hand or become a nightmare to handle.

Everyone at the office party should feel included in the planning stages, which usually take place over a few weeks. Co-workers should take note of any other office events taking place around the same time as the office holiday party, this way, they are aware of how their participation or lack thereof can change things for others.

Final Thoughts

The last thing you want is for this event to be awkward or uncomfortable, but don't worry- that won't happen if you follow our expert tips on how to plan a successful company Christmas party (or any other type of work celebration). This blog post will help make sure your employees feel appreciated and included while also having fun in the process.
