How To Plan The Perfect Family Day At The Park

In today's times, when families have become nuclear, it is becoming challenging to sit and have at least one meal together. Family members have different schedules, which is why they don't get much time to spend with each other. To keep families close, they must escape from their routines and head out on an excursion on the weekends.

What could be a better option than going to a park for a family picnic on the weekend? Packing sandwiches, relaxing in a beautiful spot, and spending the day with your family is the simplest definition of a picnic.

In this article, we've listed some pieces of advice that will help you plan the perfect family picnic at the park.

With a little preparation and planning a picnic can be an awesome outing for families. Here are some tips to get started! Click To Tweet

Pick a Perfect Picnic Basket

You all are familiar with the conventional wicker-styled picnic baskets. However, there are lots of basket styles available today for different types of picnics.

Having a good idea of how much food you will need for your outing will help you select the right-sized basket. Ideally, a medium or large-sized picnic basket should work for a family of four.

However, when purchasing a basket, you should select its size based on food essentials only and not anything else. If you have other park supplies you want to bring, use a separate bag.

Choose The Location Wisely

After deciding to do a family picnic at the park, the first thing you should focus on is the location. Deciding on a picnic spot is super important if you wish to make this experience memorable.

Spontaneous picnics can be a blast, but they can be a blunder, too. So, to avoid any mishaps, do a little research and find a pretty park near your house.

Before finalizing any location, ask a few questions to yourself. Is the park good for kids, adults, and seniors? Does it have a playing area? Are there hygienic restrooms available?

You should also see if the park is located in a quieter area where the city noises can't reach your ears.

Better yet, pick a park that has a river, lake, or mountain nearby for an even more stunning picnicking experience.

Pack a Sandy Bumz Ground Cover

It's true that most parks have picnic tables for you to eat at, but to us, a picnic isn't a picnic unless you are on the ground.

Sandy Bumz Ground Cover is like a picnic blanket but better! It pops open sort of like a kid's play tent and features low walls so debris can't easily fly into your picnic area.

We found the unit extremely easy to use. It literally pops open in an instant and is ready for you to start putting down your picnic goodies. Whereas with a traditional picnic blanket you usually have to fight the wind to get the corners to lay down flat. This is so much easier!

It's a nice size too (52′ sqft) and can easily fit a couple of children and adults on it.

Sandy Bumz is made of a water-resistant material making it great for the pool, beach, and any outdoor activity. If it gets dirty, you can easily clean it with a damp cloth and some elbow grease.

When you are done, it folds easily so you can pack it back in its carrying case. Just make sure to take a glance a the folding instructions beforehand. We didn't and just had to wing it which made it a little more complicated than it needed to be. Once you know how to fold it, it's very simple and straightforward.

Sandy Bumz is the perfect picnic partner and plus the stripes look stylish too — you're going to love it!

Prepare a Checklist

Picnic mishaps can happen if you aren't appropriately prepared. Ever had to eat pasta without forks or have to leave nasty hands as is because you forgot napkins?

If you forget to pack an essential item, it can ruin your entire picnic's vibe. When you plan a picnic at the park, you need to take care of many things, and for that, you should prepare a checklist.

Following are some essentials to put on your checklist while planning a perfect picnic at the park:

Food Essentials

You should pack a basket with all the necessary food items and a cooler with ice.

Don't forget extras like salt and pepper, cutlery, glasses, dishware, napkins, and wet wipes because they're super important too.

Lastly, don't forget to pack trash bags and air-tight containers for left-over food.

Other Supplies

Besides food essentials, there are other things you have to carry while being on a picnic.

Sunglasses, sunscreen, bug repellant, hats, a camera, and water bottles are the top-notch items on the list.

It would be best if you packed toys for kids and games for adults as well if you don't plan on hiking or biking. Carrying along a Bluetooth speaker can't hurt either!

Conclusion

Planning a perfect family trip to the park isn't as challenging as it sounds. Especially, if you plan well. If you take care of these tiny things first, believe us, you will have a great time picnicking with your family outdoors.

I like to spend my day at the park with my child and a few close family members and friends. We like to sit under a nice shade tree and have a small picnic together. We usually end up with a lot if pictures to keep reliving all of our good memories together.

When we travel to visit family, we typically pack food in a cooler and eat at parks. It’s a great way to stretch our legs and relax before heading on the road again. Sometimes when we’re at public events that have a nice open field or shaded area, we purchase food there and eat. When our nieces are with us, it gives them plenty of space to run around.

These are great family picnic tips! We loving having picnics at the park, or even just in our backyard. I do not have a fancy basket, although I really want one! I usually just pack a few cold lunch boxes and off we go. My kids are young so afterwards we usually take a walk down the trails or let them play on the playground when we are done.
