If you spend a lot of time on your phone, laptop, or tablet before bed, you likely suffer from neck pain. The way we sleep has changed over the years, and now we are more prone to having neck pain than ever before. Whether sleeping with multiple pillows or misusing your pillow, there are ways to relieve neck pain and get a better night’s rest.

It’s time to get serious about your neck pain. It could be the result of a few different things, but we’ll explore how it could have been caused and what you can do about this discomfort for it to go away fast – before long-term damage is done!

Here are my top four tips for relieving neck pain from sleeping. These steps will help you find relief quickly and effectively!Click To Tweet

NECK PAIN CAUSES

You might not know that sleeping can be a major contributor to neck pain. When you sleep, your head and neck settle in unfamiliar positions, which may stretch muscles beyond their limits- leading them to become strained or even injured!

Sleeping in Awkward Angles

Your spine is curved slightly forward and at the base of your skull; however, when we lie down, our body doesn’t want us just sitting back so far on any side where there isn’t anything beneath us holding up support (examples include soft mattresses).

This might stretch your muscles awkwardly, causing you to strain muscles and ligaments in your neck.

Sudden Movements During Sleep

While sleeping, your head can fall forward or backward, suddenly putting pressure on your neck muscles. Dreaming and rolling over is often the cause of this and can quite easily strain your neck due to lack of support.

Pre-Existing Neck Injuries

The neck is a complicated structure. It has to hold your head up, and it needs some extra support for that job because of all the weight-lifting it does every day!

Many problems with necks can cause pain, including whiplash, cervical degenerative disc disease, or even just old age creeping up on us. This happens when our ligaments start wearing out from too much strain over time, so they become less good at supporting tension in certain positions.

HOW TO CURE NECK PAIN FAST

Heat therapy

This form of therapy involves heat lamps, heat packs, or even microwavable heat pads. All you need to do is apply the heat every so often to loosen muscles and increase circulation.

Speaking of microwaveable heating pads — I’m loving the SunnyBay Neck Wrap. I am a neck wrap junkie, and this is the best yet!

It stays nice and cozy for hours with its heavy-duty design that won’t slide or bunch in any direction thanks to its tightly packed insides and elastic strap.

The SunnyBay Neck Wrap is a great way to give your neck some extra support with its high-back design too. It has a neck brace sort of feel and can almost double as a neck pillow for sleeping upright!

It’s hands-free, highly durable, and made with high-quality materials that provide excellent, even heat therapy for a good long while. It comes in a variety of designs so we know you will find a style you love!

Ice Therapy

If you experience neck strain shortly after waking up, consider applying ice to limit the swelling (this is something the SunnyBay Neck Wrap can also do!). Such an application can offer the best results in ten to twenty minutes.

Medication

Before resorting to medications, try heat therapy and ice therapy. However, your doctor may need to take over and prescribe you something if things become too bad.

In addition, there are many useful over-the-counter options as well.

Massages and Stretching

To help your neck regain its natural shape, perform massage or stretching exercises every day. Remember that you don’t have to follow these steps entirely for them to work and can be done in conjunction with other treatments such as chiropractor visits!

If you spend more than a third of your life sleeping, the quality and quantity of sleep can have severe implications for both mental and physical health. Neck pain is one such condition that affects many people at some point in their lives, with an estimated 53% of Americans experiencing neck pain on any given day.

While many factors contribute to the development of neck pain – from posture to trauma- it has been shown that as we age, our joints begin to deteriorate, particularly those around the spine. This degeneration leads to ligaments becoming loose over time due to less supportive tissue holding them together.

However, this doesn’t mean you should give up hope! If you’re looking for relief from severe neck pain fast, try the easy steps above!

Do you know the best sleeping position for neck and shoulder pain?

I have chronic pain so I know all about it! It definitely helps to have multiple ways to help relieve the pain, or deal with it at least. I have a plug in heating pad that saves me but it would be nice to have a more portable solution. I love that you can both heat and freeze this!
