Hear Your Favorite Disney Songs In This Disney Jazz Album
Music has always been a major part of my life. Whether I am cooking, cleaning, working, playing with my boys or just hanging with my husband, there's always a song playing in the background. Growing up I was the same way – I even studied with music playing in the background and my parents say that I loved music even while I was still in the womb. Music has always had the ability to make me feel good and put a smile on my face during my toughest times. My parents passed their love of music down to me and my husband and I have now passed that love onto our sons.
Now, we all have different taste in music. Our favorites range from country to hip hop and everything in between, so car rides with us can be very interesting! But for as long as I can remember, Disney songs have been the most loved by everyone. I remember my mom singing to me as a little girl. When You Wish Upon A Star was always our favorite. Whenever I was sad my mom would start singing and before I knew it I was singing along too and I had forgotten why I was sad. These days, you can catch me breaking into a silly dance while singing You've Got A Friend In Me to cheer my boys up when they are feeling down. And guess what? By the time I sing the first verse they are singing along and smiling like crazy.
After all these years Disney still has that special magic for everyone of every age and now we can enjoy some of our favorites with a jazz twist. Jazz Loves Disney was recorded between London, Paris, and Los Angeles and features artists such as Gregory Porter, Melody Gardot, Stacey Kent, Jamie Cullum and other leading music stars performing big band jazz covers of songs that are part of every kids heritage. Walt Disney loved jazz and this cd is the ultimate proof of the impact Disney has had on generations of jazz musicians, including the ones taking part in Jazz Loves Disney.
We really love the entire cd, it gets played daily and I don't think any of us will tire of it anytime soon. Of course our two favorite songs on the track list are “When You Wish Upon A Star” from Pinocchio, which is performed so beautifully by Gregory Porter and “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” from Toy Story which is performed by Hugh Coltman and is the kid's all time favorite song. There are others that we love but I admit those 2 get the most play time because they are extra special to us!
Whether you love Disney songs, are a fan of jazz or a little of both, Jazz Loves Disney is the cd for you. It’s music that the entire family, from the very young to the eldest members, can enjoy together and it’s the perfect soundtrack for a ride in the car. I play it in the car even when the boys aren’t with me because it makes me smile and feel the magic of Disney. And you’re never too old for some Disney magic, am I right?
“Having kids who are Toy Story fans and being a fan of Randy Newman, the song choice was really simple for me” – Hugh Coltman
“Disney represents the imaginative representation of good and evil for both children and adults, it represents a virtual dream state. I’m singing “When You Wish Upon A Star, one of the most iconic Disney song. It’s one of these iconic songs which have always been a part of the fabric of your life. I write songs that have a positive message & this one has a positive message, it says think higher/ greater, than your current situation for something better” – Gregory Porter
