Charcuterie Boards Are Easy Appetizers for Picky Eaters
A charcuterie board is a snack platter that typically encompasses an array of meats, crackers, cheeses, fruits, and nuts. However, nowadays, any charcuterie board that features a variety of finger foods can also be considered a charcuterie board as long as it includes some smoked or cured pork.
Snack boards are perfect for holiday get-togethers and parties. Why? Because they are a fun snack that the entire family can be happy grazing on and perfect for sharing with guests. But the main reason they are perfect for holiday gatherings with kids is that they can be catered to anyone one's picky tastes.
Here are some kid-friendly holiday appetizers and snacks everyone will love.
Sweet Chaos Drizzled Popcorns
Yes, it's true, popcorn and a good movie were meant for each other. However, Sweet Chaos amps up that good feeling you get every time you shove a handful of that yummy goodness into your mouth by about 1000 percent.
How? Well, with Drizzled Popcorns! It's the perfect mash-up of your sweet and salty favorite.
There is no doubt you'll find a Sweet Chaos Drizzle variety to go with whatever holiday you are celebrating. Heck, we say choose multiples! Everyone loves popcorn!
There's their classic Drizzled Popcorns coming in the flavors Cake Batter, Black & White, and Peanut Butter Cup.
All of these feature kettle corn with fun flavored drizzles that any party-goer would love. Cake Batter and Peanut Butter Cup live up to their names, while Black & White is perfect for those who want just a hint of extra sweetness (as is Black & Orange and Sugar Cookie).
Then, there are Sweet Chaos' seasonal offerings:
Fall Seasonal Drizzles Popcorn
- Pumpkin Spice
- Maple Brown Sugar
- Candy Corn
- Vanilla Chai
- Black & Orange
Out of the Sweet Chaos Popcorn varieties, Candy Corn and Maple Brown Sugar were our favorites, primarily due to their caramel corn similarity.
But, Cake Batter, Peanut Butter Cup, and Peppermint Crunch closely follow with their deliciously distinguishable flavors.
Winter Seasonal Drizzles Popcorn
- Peppermint Crunch
- Iced Gingerbread
- Sugar Cookie
If you are one of those people that believe pumpkin spice is life, Pumpkin Spice, Iced Gingerbread, and Vanilla Chai will curb your cravings. They have that in-your-face pumpkin spice flavor that any good cult follower would love.
If you need a laugh, my son described it as they “taste like Hobby Lobby” — which I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but it's one of my favorite stores!
However, the best thing about Sweet Chaos Drizzled Popcorns is that they feature NON-GMO kernels hand popped in coconut oil. Moreover, there are no artificial colors, flavorings, or any of that other bad stuff, and to boot, it is a gluten-free snack.
So, you don't have to feel bad about indulging a little. It's a party, after all, enjoy it!
Pancake Charcuterie Board
Everyone loves breakfast foods, so a charcuterie board featuring pancakes (or waffles or french toast), sausage, cheeses, berries, and ham will be all the rage. Add extras like chocolate chips, yogurt, Nutella, peanut butter, and jams to cover everyone's tastes.
Strategically place orange slices for a nice pop of color.
And, don't forget to have a few little pitchers filled with syrup — they could even be different flavors if you want!
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches
Most kids are fans of PB&J sandwiches. These can easily be cut into squares or rectangles; think tea sandwich size.
If you happen to be dealing with a nut allergy, use sunflower seed butter instead.
You can also add some crackers and fruits to the board to balance the salty and sweet essence.
Dipped Apple Slices
Kids love apples, especially when they are covered or dunked in something sweet. Adding chocolate-dipped apple slices is a fun option when nearing their holidays.
The best thing about apples is they go well with various things like yogurt, peanut butter, caramel, and nuts.
Cheese and Pepperoni
Most kids love pepperoni pizza, right?
Make a platter version by including sliced cheese and pepperoni, and crackers on your tray. That way, your guests can make little pizza sandwiches which is a total kid-pleaser. But, don't worry! Even adults will love them.
Or, add a mini pepperoni to a cheese cube and adorn it with a toothpick for a quick bite.
Fruit and Cheese Kabobs
Kids might not always be a fan of vegetables, but most love fruits. Pair favorite fruits with some cheese and alternate colors on skewers for a fun treat.
If you want to add more flavor, try a flavored yogurt dip or drizzle with chocolate.
How to make kid-friendly holiday snack boards
- Decide on a color scheme and theme.
- Choose your platter or board—round, rectangle, square, etc.
- Decide if you want savory or sweet options or a bit of both.
- Make sure everything (but dips) can be eaten with the hands or a toothpick.
- Consider crafting focal points with cute dip containers and dishes. Move on and fill the board with dips and small snacks in a fun pattern.
- Create food items in small groups throughout the board. And, if you have gaps left on the board, fill them up with smaller edible items.
This popcorn sounds amazing. My go-to snacks are popcorn, crackers and cheese, and chips and dip.
My kids would totally eat all of those for a holiday appetizer or just a snack
My choices seem to alway include Chicken and Waffle Sliders! They are always a big hit and so easy!
That sounds like a fun holiday appetizer!
We love fun flavored popcorn! My favorite flavored popcorn was cinnamon sugar.

Pigs in a blanket
Yum! Pigs in a blanket seem to be a popular choice for kid-friendly appetizers!
yummy and delicious
My favorite appetizers and snacks to feed the kids at a party are popcorn chicken, Pigs in a blanket, queso and chips, and mozzarella sticks. As long as you make it fun and give them a variety of choices they seem pretty happy.
