The perfect weekend can sometimes feel like the Holy Grail. We all lead up to it. Especially if we have a family and the children are at school. It’s those two days that we can make some memories. But often we find it so difficult to do it that those weekends become wasted. But with these secrets and tips, you will be making the most out of the weekend in know time. It just takes a little organisation and planning.
Make a list of what you want to achieve
It’s a really good idea to have a list of exactly what you want to do. At some point during the week get together with your family or just take a moment to yourself to think about it. Work out what needs to be done. Is there any DIY jobs that need completing or starting? Do you have any laundry to catch up on? Is there any school commitments? Any sports coaching clubs to attend? Is there anything booked in the diary? Then once you know what you want to do or where you need to be you can work out the logistics.
It isn’t just what you have to do as well that you need to think about. You need to consider what you want to do as well. Are you having a bad tiring week? Do you think some time out to read or book would be beneficial? Do you want all the family to eat together and watch a film on Saturday night?
Everything you want or have to do needs consideration and then it requires planning. So whether it's chores, places to be, or what you want to do make sure it is on the list.
Make sure you relax
One of the main things people forget to do or have no time for is relaxing. We have all worked hard all week, and that’s what the weekend is for, right? It’s a time to recharge the batteries. If you work or are a stay at home mom, it’s vital that we have a little bit of time to relax.
There are plenty of ways you could do this. You could start that book you have had on your bedside table for ages. You could get someone else to do the cooking in the evening. Maybe order a takeaway meal instead. Make sure there is some time for you to relax.
Maybe you use Sunday evening as a chance for a bit of me time. If you do utilise the time as much as possible!
Get some fresh air
Again, through working or just running errands, not many of us get some good old fashioned fresh air on a weekend. Vitamin D is good for us, and most of us don’t get enough of it. Fresh air is also good for the soul. It allows kids to run off some steam and blows off the cobwebs from the previous week.
Making sure you schedule in some time for fresh air is a great way to coincide it with some quality family time. It could be as simple as heading to the local park or beach. Maybe head out for a morning or an afternoon exploring a national park. There is plenty to do, but we can all be a little guilty of forgetting that those things are there.
Work on your decor and create the perfect spaces
This is something that can’t be changed overnight. But with a little planning and effort could make your weekends much more enjoyable.
If you like the idea of taking some time to relax on a weekend, then you could create a little space that will enable you to do that. A space or room in the house that you can just escape to and unwind. If you like reading, then you could create your own reading nook. Or maybe if films are more your thing why not turn a spare room into a movie room.
It doesn't take much to create these spaces. It could be as simple as some new lighting, a comfortable beanbag and footstool. You could browse for quality bean bags here. Maybe it could be as simple as creating a space for the kids to go to. Leaving the kitchen a quiet place for you or your living room.
Spend quality time with your family and loved ones
It’s important to use the weekends wisely and spend it with family and loved ones. Many people don’t get that much of an opportunity during the week due to work and other commitments. So why wouldn't you want to spend the weekend time with the best people in your life?
It could be having a coffee and snack somewhere. Spending some time together in the fresh air. Or just watching a film at home on a Saturday evening. The weekends are the perfect time to make the memories that you will look back on in years to come.
Take a moment to think about your week ahead
Just like you would plan a weekend, it’s a great idea to do the same for the week ahead. If you know certain things need doing in the week, then plan to do them. Avoiding things carrying over to the weekend and infringing on your time with your family.
It’s quite therapeutic to sit on a Sunday and work out what your week is looking like. Even doing this could mean getting more done in the week and freeing up more time on a weekend.
Spend the weekend away
Finally, The last thing to suggest would be to spend your weekend in another location. You might want to have a city break somewhere or take a few days out at the beach. Spending the weekend away from home means you have no distractions and can focus on enjoying the weekend break. There are lots of websites offering discounts and last minute deals. I hope these tips and secrets help you make the most out of your weekend!
