Early this year my youngest son finally got the bike thing down (yay!). This has meant we have spent a lot of family time hiking and biking around our local parks. Most of these outings include a mini picnic consisting of some sort of sandwich we grabbed on the way there.
I really never thought about it before but the trash really adds up. There's four of us so usually, there's at least a sandwich wrapper (sometimes they double wrap it), a bottle with cap or a cup with a straw, and a chip bag — times FOUR.
One of the easiest ways to be more eco-friendly is to use reusable products like those made by bambu®. Yes, pre-packaged and fast food items are often easier to throw together but there's just SO MUCH unnecessary waste.
Why not use products that you can use over and over again? It makes so much more sense.
bambu® offers affordable, earth-friendly products for the whole family.
So I ditched the excess trash, bought a picnic kit, and stocked it with bambu® and other reusable products.
For this fun, hot dog picnic we used the following bambu® products:
Veneerware® Fancy Bamboo Plates
The great thing about these plates is that you can wash and reuse them or dispose of them. They are completely biodegradable and compost in 4-6 months.
I love the extra edge detail too — so much nicer than paper plates!
Reusable Bamboo Straws
A crazy number of plastic straws are used daily and they are hurting the environment. Instead, these bamboo straws are reusable and 100% USDA certified organic.
I love that they are easy to clean too with their included all-natural cleaning brush!
These guys are the perfect picnic item! A fork and a spoon in one that's naturally anti-microbial.
The less I have to pack the better!
Travel Utensil Set with Eco-Conscious Pouch
SO easy to just toss into the picnic basket! Includes a fork, spoon, and knife. The spoon was perfect for scooping ranch onto our salads.
Short Bamboo Salad Servers
Made from a single piece of bamboo. Easy to grip and look great!
Organic Cotton Stripe Kitchen Towel & Bamboo Serving Tray
This kitchen towel was great to use as a napkin instead of paper products! And, these adorable mini cupcakes looked so stylish on this eco-friendly serving tray. It made me want to eat them even more!
Classic Bamboo Cutting/Bar Board
The perfect travel size to cut things on the go and to use as a prep spot!
Are you ready to make the right choice?
Life is about choices. People make about 35,000 choices in just one day. Let's make some of those choices be for the better. Better for our families. Better for the environment. Let's face it — better for everyone!

I really need to try out their bamboo straws! I like to reuse items and I don’t like the plastic ones because of that reason and metal can give off a taste to me.
I have not noticed any weird taste with these bambu straws.
I try to help the planet by conserving water and recycling. I also love to bring my own bags when I go shopping.
Thank you for doing your part in helping our planet!
Bamboo is so amazing, I love how many things are made from it! We try everything possible to try and save our planet. I wish that all products were not packaged in plastic but we always recycle and reuse what we can.

Cool products! I use a bamboo cutting board and have a couple of salad tongs that are bambool. I compost, recycle, re-use, make crafts with the grandkids out of recyclables.
Making crafts is a great way to recycle. And, it’s fun too!
I love eco friendly products. We try to take care of the planet by using resusable products like unpaper towels, cloth diapers, cloth wipes, etc! This is such an important cause!
That’s great you use cloth diapers. So many people don’t.
Compared to many people I don’t do anything. As a senior I know we need to do more but. I take my tote bags to the grocery store, I drink water out of the tap. Problem more but I don’t think of them as doing something special.
You are trying and that’s all that matters!
I love bamboo products. I can’t believe all the things they can make with this. Awesome products. Thank you so much for sharing
Bamboo is an amazing material for sure!
My husband and I try to do our best, we: are vegan, bring shopping bags with us, recycle, use energy-efficient products, upcycle, support local farmers, etc.
Sounds like you do more than your part. That’s great!
My grandchildren love the utensils, I even use the bamboo paper towels.
SO glad to hear you love bambu!
I help the environment by trying to use as little plastic as I possibly can.
I am also recycling stuff.
Thanks for helping our planet!
I take my own bags to the grocery store and do not use plastic straws. I also try to take my own jars to the grocery store to refill but not all stores accept them.
What can you refill at stores with glass jars?
I have one store in town that lets me refill with olives and cheese. Love that.
Sounds pretty neat!
i can help the planet by planting more tree around my community. and by use less harmful chemical in the air such as gas and other toxic chemicals.
Planting more trees is great for the environment!
I help the planet by driving as little as possible and by flying as little as possible. Thanks for sharing!
I don’t drive much either – unless I have to.
I take care in the recycling we do, especially now it’s slightly improved here, finally can recycle bubble wrap, and Styrofoam.
That’s great that bubble wrap and styrofoam can be recycled where you are!

I’m so happy to hear you are very eco-friendly. We all thank you!
I do a lot to help the environment. We have a few composts, and composting worms downstairs. My work doesn’t recycle, so I started recycling their paper and another girl recycles cans and bottles.
That’s awesome you recycle for your work!
I had never seen these products before, but they’re cute! I love using reusable items and bamboo is lightweight so I think they would be awesome to use! and hey look great and are better for the environment. Can’t go wrong!
Very true – they are a win, win!
I try to but don’t always………………. but someone told me any thing you can do will help. I no longer buyer plastic water bottles, I drink from the tap, I use glass straws and keep some in the car.

We are avid recyclers in my home. I aspire to be waste free, but we have a long way to go. Every little bit does help though.
I try to recycle as much as I can too!
We recycle, reuse and upcycle. I also like using natural cleaning products.
What are your favorite natural cleaning product brands?
I really like Grab Green and Powerizer. Both work great on pretty much anything and have a great scent 🙂
I’ll have to check those out!
I try not to be wasteful of resources.
That is a great way to be more green!
I help the planet by using my compost bin for all food scrapes. I also recycle all paper & plastic products.
My mom used to compost when I was little and I would take things out there. It’s a fond memory 🙂
This looks like a great company. I love bamboo since I bought bamboo floors for my house. Bamboo is so versatile; it can do just about anything. I would love to take their products for a spin.
So glad to hear you are a bamboo fan! You’ll love bambu then 🙂
Bamboo products are great for our environment. We need to use less plastic, etc to save our planet. Thank you for sharing this great article
Bambu is a great brand for this! We all need to chip in and use less plastic (and probably paper too).
I always take my own bags to the grocery store. I’ve also started refusing straws and lids at fast food restaurants.
I love those reusable stainless steel straws!
I try to do what I can by recycling everything, having low flow toilets, conserving water whenever possible, using organic and natural products, reusing items/buying secondhand & trying to have less waste.
Sounds like you do an awesome job helping our planet. Thank you!
