Celebrating Christmas does not need to cost an arm and a leg. There is no need to buy expensive gifts for your loved ones or prepare a lavish feast. With that in mind, here we will briefly tackle some of the best ways to make Christmas special and memorable without the need to spend a fortune.
The absolute best parts of Christmas don’t have to cost money to be amazing and memorable. Here are some inexpensive ways to make Christmas memorable!Click To TweetGive Christmas Cards
If you are looking for an inexpensive gift that will allow you to spread the holiday vibes, consider a DIY Christmas card. Think of Christmas phrases or sayings that will say exactly how you feel to make it even more special.
You can also write a heartfelt personal message to the recipient.
Stay away from dull and ordinary cards. Why not give away photo insert cards or use online Christmas photo card templates.
You can use your family’s photo or a photo of your pet to add spice to the card!
Create your Own Christmas Décor
You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on a new tree, lights, and ornaments to get in the spirit of the season. You can make your own cheap Xmas decorations or buy affordable ones online.
To make it more memorable, do it as a family. Make it a bonding activity with the kids.
You can even use their artwork for decorating the tree.
My kids often make paper ornaments at school and decorate the tree with them 🙂
Pinecones and evergreens also make incredible rustic decorations. You can even use recycled old fabrics with colors that will remind you of the season.
Invest in Xmas Activities
To make Christmas epic without going broke, think of free activities that make the season more special. For instance, as a family, you can go around the neighborhood to sing Christmas carols and spread holiday cheer.
You can also get your hands on some special snacks and candies from Japan with Japan Crate – a Japanese subscription company that ships all over the world. This month's Crate has a special Christmas design that you just cannot miss.
If you live in a place with snow, take the family outside to create a snowman, go sledding, and have fun.
You can also prepare a special Christmas breakfast while having everyone involved. Or watch a Christmas-themed movie while eating gingerbread cookies.
Look for Local Entertainment
If you are spending the holidays at home instead of traveling, check out the happenings within the neighborhood. Chances are, there is a local event, such as concerts in a park or a kid-friendly gathering.
This way, you can take out the family for Christmas without emptying your pocketbook.
Do Something for Others
A charitable act this Christmas is one of the surefire ways to make the celebration extra-special. Some might instantly ditch the idea, thinking they must spend a lot.
The truth is, you do not need to be ultra-rich to share your blessings with other people. It does not take a lot to make homemade cookies and give them to other people, such as in a nursing home for the elderly.
You can also do a purge of your closet and give away things that you no longer use.
See, you can most definitely celebrate Christmas without a lot of money. After all, what matters most is that you are with the people you love. That is the true spirit of the season. Happy holidays!
This is so true, and these are great ways to celebrate Christmas without a ton of money. I have had many small Christmases, where we didn’t have a lot. All that matters to my family is that we are all together making memories. My kids remember my special Christmas morning breakfast more than anything.
What do you make for Christmas breakfast to make it memorable?
I love these ideas! I am discouraged by seeing so many articles elsewhere that suggest costly activities, as if anyone with internet access can naturally afford almost anything. There are plenty of inexpensive or free activities, but it requires a bit of looking. This blog is a great start!
It was fun when my kids were young to make paper garlands. However, stringing popcorn was frustrating, because the popcorn broke apart easily and required very thin needles. I’d skip that activity!
That’s true. Needles and children probably don’t go together
Since Im a senior citizen now I don’t decorate as fancy as I did before but I do some decorating because of the younger great grandkids.I don’t spend a lot on gifts either. I try to do things with more meaning to the gift such as babysitting the kids for special free parents time or taking the kids somewhere they always wanted to go. I hope they all cherish our Christmas memories.
I think experience gifts are one of the best kinds. Plus you get to bond more that way anyway.
