In case you didn't know, my family and I love animals, especially cats. In our house, we have four female cats ranging in age from one year old to 13 years old. They each have their adorable quirks and unique personalities. We swear one of them is more like a dog than a cat. They bring us so much happiness and we wouldn't trade them for anything!
When I came across a video called “Cat Vs Bear”, I thought “Oh, no. I don't want to watch a poor cat get eaten by a bear.” Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised.
Apparently, cats hold their ground really well against black bears. Most black bears would rather flee than fight something that is small and not really worth the time to eat. Overall, they are pretty timid creatures. Of course, I wouldn't want to come across a black bear while they are eating or a mother with her cubs. I'm sure that story would end differently.
My son thought it was funny that such a big, aggressive creature would be scared of a sweet cat. So now bears are lovingly called scaredy bears.
One day when he was bored, I decided to make an Easy No-Sew Sock Halloween Cat with him. I even had the perfect snack to eat while making them, TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks that I got from Walmart! I just had to keep with the Cat vs. Bear theme. Plus we can't wait for Halloween!
TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks are different than your typical cookie snack. There's none of that fake stuff (high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors and colors) in them. Just real ingredients like milk, eggs, and chocolate made into a cute bear-shaped snack.
We thought they were absolutely adorable! And we especially liked the vanilla filling!!
They were the perfect snack to eat while making Easy No-Sew Sock Halloween Cats.
Easy No-Sew Sock Halloween Cats
DIY No-Sew Sock Halloween Cats Craft for kids and grownups. Makes a great Halloween decoration or a fun DIY gift.
What You Need
- black socks
- rice
- rubber bands
- felt
- small buttons or googly eyes
- paint markers
- glue gun
- ribbon
Put It Together
Fill a black sock with rice. Once you think it is filled enough, cut off the remainder of the sock and tie with a rubber band.
Using another rubber band, portion off a section of the top half to make the head.
To cover the rubber band on the head, use felt to make a witch hat. With a small bowl, mark off half a circle on a piece of felt and cut it out. Roll into a cone shape and secure with hot glue.
Place the cone circle on another piece of felt and draw an outer circle to form the brim of the hat. Also, trace the cone circle. It should look like a small circle inside a larger circle when you are finished.
Cut out the inner circle and slide the brim over the cone to form a hat. Secure with hot glue.
Using a piece of gold felt, form a hat buckle and secure to the witch's hat with a thin piece of ribbon.
Cut out small triangles of black and pink felt to form the ears. Secure with hot glue.
Roll a piece of the extra sock to form a tail. Secure to the side and back with hot glue.
From here you can get creative with how you want your cat to look. I used buttons for the eyes, tied a ribbon around his neck, and drew on his face with a paint marker.
My son just adores our Easy No-Sew Sock Halloween Cats. So much, in fact, we had to take him for a walk to the playground. Where we, OF COURSE, had to take our TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks too.
TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks are such a fun and portable on the go snack. I love that I can just toss them in a bag and I have a quick delicious treat that can be eaten anywhere.
It looks like the cat won again! TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks are SO cute and fun but they HAVE to be eaten. You can find these kid loved and mom approved TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks at Walmart in the Cookie/Cracker aisle.

I love the clip with the kitties standing their ground or chasing the bears. I notice the last bear was brave enough to make sure to get the bounty before bolting!!!! This no-sew-sock kitty is very cute, and I love the snack, too.
Thanks! Such a cute clip!! Got to make sure to get the bounty – priorities LOL
The sock cats is a great idea. And the Teddys are to both are awesome
We thought they were pretty fun. You’ll love the teddy snacks 🙂
These teddie snack sound and look amazing. My kids love these snacks.
Yes! I love them too. I mean, my kids adore them but I can’t help but eat them as well haha!
The craft looks cute. It sounds like a great way to use up unmatched socks.
It definitely is a great way to use up those socks! Those will most likely get tossed anyways so it’s a great alternative!
That so creative and a fun thing to do. I’m sure kids would live making this and that treat looks yummy.
I know MY kids had a blast making it! Yes, those treats are delicious!
How cute that your son calls them scaredy bears! Definitely need to try those snacks. This would be a fun craft to do with the kids
It’s a super fun craft to do with the kids! Yes, he’s pretty cute when he wants to be 😉
aww….I just love Teddy cakes, I eat them from time to time. I’m a huge cat crazy lady, I just love them, so this simple diy is on my list. I just have to make it as well. I’m glad to see and hear that cats can scare a bear 🙂
Isn’t that crazy?? I was glad to know as well. They’re feisty little things!
This is a genius diy! I have many old socks and stockings at home 🙂 am excited to make a witchy cat too! Thanks you dear 🙂
I’m glad you loved it! I found it quite fun even if I’m not a kid 😉
We have such a huge superstition about black cats so I am always weary but love your hallowen cat
Oh really? Why is that? I guess I love cats too much to think anything bad could be attached to them. haha!
Wow, both snack and draft are so cute, I can’t help looking at it. I will add this hand-made kitten to my must-do things for the Halloween.
Thanks for sharing!
I’m glad to know I could help you with a fall bucket list item. You won’t regret making it! They’re a ton of fun.
Wow this craft sounds like fun with kids :D… And the teddy cake looks yummmm 🙂
They are definitely yummmm, I promise you that!
The craft and snack are so fun for kids. I love that this is made for kids.
Yes, the kids definitely loved both the snack and the craft a ton!
I have got to try those soft baked teddy grahams! Love the originals, but I’ll be these are even better!
Oh these take the cake, girl! They’re delicious.
What a fun activity to have with the kiddos and with snacks. Great! I remember my mom packing that in our lunch boxes when we were kids.
I don’t remember a ton of what my mom used to pack. However, I sure wish now it were these snacks! ha!
I need to get out and try these Teddy Soft Bakes. My kids would love to make these sock bears too. Lost socks would have a purpose!! We would have polar bears here though as all our lost socks are white.
It’s actually a sock cat but you can definitely make bears too! I would love to see your polar bears if you end up making them!
Was eating bear some sort of symbolic revenge? Cut cat project. I believe I have a black sock floating around without a mate – a use for it, thank you.
Now that I think about it, it sure looks that way, haha! Glad you found a use for that poor lonely sock!
This is a great craft. I don’t know what’s better…the snack or the craft. Great job!
Thank you so much! I couldn’t choose either, haha!
This is such a cute craft! I love teddy grahams, but I haven’t gotten a chance to try these yet.
You should totally try them! You’ll be happy you did!
Both the cat and the teddy bear are so adorable!! I love snacks that are chocolatey just like this teddy bear. Love that the ingredients are natural real stuff and none of those artificial unhealthy things.
We are thankful for great ingredients as well! Not easy to find these days!
We recently tried the chocolate filled snack cakes! My boys love them! Also, the cat new-sew sock design is so cute!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it. Yes, those things are delicious.
That sounds like a great snack. I’d love to try.
Yes, you should definitely try them! They’re not just for kids!
These are some nice snacks, favorites for my kids ) We should try making that cat also )
Oh yes, do both and then come back and tell us what you think!
How strange, in the UK Teddy soft bakes are called Barney Bears – exactly the same though!
I actually didn’t know that! That’s a cool fact, thanks for sharing that!
YUM! I love snacks and fun crafts. My cousin would like this 🙂
Please feel free to share with your cousin! We love snacks and crafts too!
This is such an adorable craft! I totally need to make this with my kids.
I promise you it will be a blast!
Awww what a cute craft project. These are perfect for Halloween! I bet these would be lovely to make with kids too, who doesn’t love cats?
I know, right?! Yes, the kids loved them! Glad you enjoyed it!
What a cute craft. And I had not seen thought Teddy Grahams. I have to find them and give them a try.
You’ll love them if you do! I’m glad you liked the craft!
This cat reminds me of the year I dressed up as a witch for Halloween. My mom made this amazing costume complete with a hat, a bat that sat on my shoulder, and a cat that sat on my broom. Brings back such good memories.
Aw, I’m glad our little craft brought back some fun holiday memories for you. It sounds like your mom was quite crafty!
That’s really amazing! We have 2 dogs and 3 cats and we love them so much!!! I think this is such a fun craft to make with the kids! My daughter loves those snacks as well.
I’m glad she likes them! We ALL like them at our house lol. Mom sneaks them XD
That cat seems like the perfect kid project for Halloween, no sewing, baking or cooking involved, love it.
Ha! You’ve got that right! No sewing and no actual cooking is a great day in my book. 😉
Those cats are so cute! My child can’t get enough of those Teddy Soft Bakes.
I don’t blame them! They’re really good. I’m glad you like the cat!
Those are the cutest! Black cats are one of my favorite things to decorate my house in for halloween!
You’re a lot like me then! I love cats and having an excuse to decorate the house with them excites me.
That sounds like an awesome snack. I know that my boys would absolutely love them, so I have to go buy some for them.
Let us know how much they ask for them after they try them. 😉 haha! They’re very good and addicting little snacks.
I like a project that has the words “no-sew” in it and these Halloween cats are so cute! I’ve never seen this type of Teddy Graham before but it looks like a snack a lot of kids would enjoy.
They’re a newer concept by Teddy Graham and they’re delicious! haha Yes, no-sew projects are definitely more my speed. as well.
These little cat sock crafts are cute and perfect to make for Halloween with the kids! I’ll have to buy some of these snacks too when we complete them!
I have no doubt they will have a blast making them. Feel free to come back and share their finished products if you DO make them!
That is totally awesome that your son calls them scaredy bears! The cat is adorable, love his hat!
They keep life lively. 😉 I’m glad you like it!
