This New Year cleaning resolution tips post is brought to you by Mr. Clean as part of a Type-A Parent Community Sponsored Post.
The New Year is just ahead making it the perfect time to contemplate cleaning resolutions. We all say we will do this or do that in the New Year but more often than not we end up not doing them. Kids are often big contributors in household messes so we might as well enlist them to be part of the solution. Here are my best tips for cleaning resolutions for the New Year that parents can actually keep with the help of their kids.
Keep Kids Organized with Cube Organizers
Have your kids clean their rooms every night. It is often too easy just to go to bed and leave their rooms looking like a toy bomb went off. Having a cube organizers that use those canvas bins are great for organizing toys. My boys know how to separate their little toys so things are slightly more organized and most importantly off the floor. For example, there is a cars bin, a guys (any kind of little figure) bin, a Lego bin – you get the idea. These bins make cleaning their room a snap.
Invest in a Small Vacuum
Have a little vacuum like the Electrolux Ergorapido that your kids can use after they eat. It is a great little vacuum for any hard surface and has quite a sucking power at picking up small crumbs and dust.
It is amazing how many crumbs my boys can accumulate during just one meal. It doesn't seem to matter how much I tell them to eat over their plates, it just doesn't happen. My oldest is constantly bringing food to his mouth rather than bringing his face to his plate. Sigh. Having them vacuum underneath the table after they eat may just give them a bit more incentive to get the food actually in their mouths. One can hope. Plus after vacuuming underneath the table they might as well vacuum the whole area in which the table is in. Just for the fun of it.
Put Things Back When You are Done with Them
Lastly, teach your kids to do general cleaning. I hate having to go through my house with a basket picking up toys from every single room in the house. If they use something they need to know that when they are done with it they should put it back where they got it (not shove it under the couch). No leaving the army of super hero figures all over the living room floor because they just battled but now you want to watch TV. Having them put up things when they are done with them makes life so much easier and cleaner!
While these cleaning resolutions are sure to help keep your house in better shape and teach a sense of responsibility in your kids there are just some things mommy is stuck doing. Like cleaning the kitchen sink.
A Glimpse into Mr. Clean Liquid Muscle
Ok, so my friend's sink has a dishwasher drainage problem and she complains of the horrible soap scum build up she gets as a result ( Cascade Platinum Pacs might also help). I figured this would be the perfect test just to see how big Mr. Clean's Liquid Muscles really are. Sadly, this job isn't strong enough for my homemade disinfecting wipes.
Mr. Clean Liquid Muscle is a multipurpose liquid gel concentrate that has 2.5 times the power of other cleaners. It does not contain phosphates, chlorine, bleach or ammonia so it is more environmentally safe and still packs the classic punch of fragrance of Mr. Clean. It is available for around $5 and comes in lemon scent, meadows and rain scent, gain original fresh scent, and bath and kitchen with the grease fighting power of Dawn.
The Mr. Clean Liquid Muscle bottle says you can use it full strength or dilute it. I decided this was a full strength sort of mission. I placed a little drizzle on the problem areas, and spread it around, then let it sit for about 5 minutes. I came back with my trusty cloth diaper cleaning rag, and went to work. The soap scum glided off her sink. In about 2 minutes, her sink went from nastiest sink in the country to sparkling clean!
The Mr. Clean Liquid Muscle made it really easy to wipe off old soap scum. It definitely lived up to its name, as I do not have mighty muscles. She said that area was very hard to clean before using Mr. Clean Liquid Muscle – and it made it easy! And of course, it left behind a nice lemony Mr. Clean scent. The bottle seems huge for a concentrate and should last me a long time. I will definitely be using this for many of my cleaning needs in the future.
Thanks to Mr. Clean Liquid Muscle my friend no longer thinks she has the nastiest sink in America! Thank you so much Mr. Clean!!
I have used this stuff for ever and it cleans great. Making a concentrate makes it sensible for shipping, and easier than carrying large bottle home.
Yes, very convenient for cleaning around the house!
Wow! I have to try this! I must admit that I am a bit of a clean freak and I do love trying new products! This one looks like a winner.
Trying new products is fun! Especially when they work so well 🙂
I think I had commented already but just incase I decided to comment again. I have always been a Mr Clean Fan. I have yet to try this product but plan on it after your review. :-)))
It’s a new product so it may not be in your stores right away but if you don’t find it I’m sure they will get it soon 🙂
