family posing at a picnic in a field: Picnic Planning Tips Planning a Picnic Date with Kids

Taking your kids out on a picnic can be a real task, especially when your family has a toddler. As exciting as the thought of a fun trip sounds, it is imperative to ensure the safety and security of your children, considering how notorious and mischievous they can be. This article addresses a few of the essential tips you need to keep in mind when picnic planning with children.

Whether you are planning your first picnic or want to take it up a notch, here is how to plan an easy and fun date for the whole family. Click To Tweet

Prioritize Safety of Your Kids

When planning a picnic, it's important to keep safety in mind, especially if you have young children.

Choose a location that is safely away from roads and bodies of water. If possible, find a spot that is already covered in grass or bring picnic blankets to minimize the risk of cuts or scrapes. In addition, bring a nuna trvl stroller for your toddler to ensure you and your child can get from point A to point B successfully.

Also, pack plenty of sunscreen, hats, and insect repellent. Be sure to reapply sunscreen throughout the day, especially if your kids are playing in the sun. Hats and insect repellents can help protect against harmful UV rays and bug bites respectively.

Moreover, ensure your kids are restrained in child safety seats on the drive to the picnic spot.

Make a Picnic Checklist

Anyone who has ever planned a picnic knows that there is a lot to remember. From food and drinks to plates and utensils, it can be easy to forget something important. A picnic checklist can help you make sure you have everything you need before you head out for the day.

Simply write down all of the essentials, such as food, drinks, utensils, and games. Once everything is on the list, take a few minutes to check off each item as you pack it into the picnic basket. This will help ensure that nothing is forgotten and that your picnic runs smoothly.

Pack Everything in a Picnic Basket

picnic backpack: picnic planning

When it comes to picnic planning, there's one essential item you need: a picnic basket. A picnic basket can help you transport all of your food and beverages for the day, and it can also serve as a place to store anything you might need, from napkins to sunscreen.

Plus, it's just more fun to eat picnic food out of a picnic basket!

Pack the Best Picnic Food

Pack plenty of food and drinks, and make sure to pack extra in case of spillage or appetites that are larger than anticipated. It's also a good idea to pack some snacks that can be easily eaten on the go in case you need to move locations suddenly.

For the main course, sandwiches are always a picnic staple. But if you're looking for something a little more creative, consider packing wraps or quesadillas.

For sides, salads are always a good option, or you could pack fruits and vegetables for a healthy picnic snack. And don't forget the dessert! Cookies, brownies, or even fruit salad are all great picnic treats.

Whatever you choose to pack in your picnic basket, make sure you have plenty of drinks to wash it all down. Juice, iced tea, or lemonade are all refreshing options for a hot summer day.

And don't forget the ice! Picnics are meant to be enjoyed outdoors, so make sure you pack everything you need to keep your food and drinks cool.

Plan Picnic Activities

Now that you've got the food and drinks sorted, it's time to think about games and activities. If your picnic location has a playground nearby, that's always a hit with the kids. There are lots of ways to add some extra excitement to your picnic. For example, you can hide little treats around your picnic spot for your kids (or your partner) to find. Other classic picnic games include frisbee, tag, water balloon toss, and hide-and-seek.

Of course, you could always just sit back and enjoy the company of your friends and family while watching the kids run around and play. No matter how you choose to spend your picnic, remember to relax and have fun!

Final Thoughts on Picnic Planning With Kids

Planning the perfect picnic date with your kids can be a lot of fun, and it doesn’t have to be expensive. By using some of the tips we’ve shared, you can create an enjoyable experience for all. Plus, picnicking is a great way to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Happy picnicking!

Safety, safety….nothing more important. Just recently read about a family picnic where a child drowned in a small creek, Agree with you 100%, stay away from even the most shallow harmless looking water. Thanks for these tips,

My kids and I have picnics often, they just love doing it so much! I always have to plan, of course, as it really helps to make sure that you have everything that you need. The one thing that I would love to get some day is a real picnic basket with accessories! That would be fun to have, and my kids would be so excited about it.
