One of my favorite sandwiches is a melt. Mine are usually filled with turkey or ham, avocado, mayonnaise, tomato and of course cheese. Typically, I cook these types of sandwiches on my electric griddle, but when I am short for time I use my waffle iron. Yes, you heard me correct – WAFFLE IRON. It speeds things up a bit because no flipping is involved. Both sides cook at the same time! Plus if I wanted I could cook several sandwiches at once which is a real time saver on busy hectic days!
To slice my avocado for this Quick Turkey Avocado Waffle Melt I used a Toma 3-in-1 Avocado Slicer Tool and Storage Container. It made opening, slicing, and pitting the avocado a breeze. I was able to do all that with just this one tool! It formed perfect slices in one swipe.
I was a little skeptical about it being able to cut through the avocado skin but it did it quite easily. You just have to get the tip in there first and then you're golden to go all the way around. It also easily pitted the seed. Usually, I try to use a knife to stab the seed out but that doesn't always work. This worked perfectly and most importantly the first time!
For this Quick Turkey Avocado Waffle Melt recipe I used oven roasted turkey and colby jack cheese. Feel free to switch things up and add more or less. Whatever you want really. That's why there are no measurements for the recipe. The most important part is to try it in the waffle maker! Your stomach will thank you.

Disclosure
I like this idea. Usually, waffles are used for chicken or something similar, but using avocado and turkey changes it up a little.
Well technically this is just regular bread that looks like a waffle, not actual waffle mix
What a unique recipe, it sounds delicious!! I love this combination of flavors! I only wish I had the ingredients so I could make one right now! Thank you so much for sharing. 🙂
Thanks, it’s sounding like a good lunch to me right now too!
This looks tasty. Great way to use leftover turkey!
SO tasty! Kind of makes me wish I had a turkey now lol.
I never thought to use the waffle iron to do melt sandwiches on. That’s a great idea! I get tired of heating up the stove for one or two sandwiches, so a waffle iron would be quick & easy. I love the avocado pitter/slicer, what a nifty gadget! Thanks!
I thought it was super nifty too! Saved me time, that’s for sure. Glad you enjoyed the tip!
Wow, this looks so delicious!
