In this era, most individuals believe in establishing their own businesses instead of working for others. More and more entrepreneurs are coming forward, and a significant portion of these individuals are female. Yes, females, especially young mothers, are embracing the field of entrepreneurship.

We are all aware that embracing motherhood while simultaneously managing a business is an exceedingly demanding task. Those who spend more time with their children neglect their businesses. On the contrary, spending too much time in the office means less time for kids.

No doubt, it’s a dilemma for every mother. However, there’s no need for disappointment. Here are some effective ways to properly manage both tasks: If you’re involved in the real estate business, these tips will be perfect for you.

Trust Your Team

A single individual does not solely operate startups that win real estate awards or achieve significant success. An entire team plays a crucial role in propelling a business to new heights, and this team can also assist you in managing both your professional and personal life.

From your assistant to accountants and managers, seek assistance from everyone around you. Divide your responsibilities strategically to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Similarly, your family at home constitutes a team that can support you in managing your children.

Utilize the support of both these teams to navigate through challenges. It’s not inaccurate when people say that it takes a village, and unquestionably, running a business and managing children require more than one person.

Learn to Prioritize

Don’t forget to prioritize tasks in your life. If something feels urgent, do it first and leave the other tasks for another time. Of course, your preferences will change every week, depending on your work schedule.

Start by noting the upcoming tasks and numbering them in the order in which you will be doing them. That way, you have an idea of how you will be managing your time.

Learn to Say No

This is the most useful tip for any mother managing a real estate business. If you’re not comfortable doing something, just say no. If you think doing it all will get you appreciation or the title of supermom, you’re just doing injustice to yourself.

Don’t let others expect too much of you. Instead, focus on your internal needs. People might wish for you to arrange meetings at the last moment, but it’s not right.

Commit yourself to creating a balance and respecting your personal wishes. Remember, self-care is as important as giving time to family and work. If you’re not willing to do something, learn to say no to it.

Try Pre-Planning

Why Agents Should Request an Offer from an iBuyer

Often, the pressure from your work and personal life makes you forget things. Let’s say you had too many meetings in a single day and forgot to attend your kid’s sports function, or you forgot to go to a showing because of family commitments.

To avoid these confusions, try pre-planning your week and creating a schedule. Divide your time into blocks and mark which time will be dedicated to family and when to handle meetings.

Having a schedule allows you to be free from the problem of deciding what to do with your time.

Stay Connected to Both Sides

You can use technology to balance your career and family life. Since you can’t be physically available in both places at the same time, you could use platforms like Zoom or WhatsApp to remain connected.

For example, if you have a house showing on the same day as your child’s PTM, you can attend one physically and use video chat to handle the other matter. It’s an effective way of keeping your clients satisfied while not neglecting your child.

The more connected you are, the better you handle your personal and professional affairs.

Set up Boundaries

Another important rule for female entrepreneurs is to set boundaries. As told earlier, your business is also your child and needs as much care as your biological kid. To be able to handle both roles, set up proper boundaries.

Setting up the right boundaries helps your career and relieves family pressure. In several cases, real estate agents are suddenly called for meetings on weekends or weekday evenings. This routine could make you miss out on all the important events of your child’s life.

Therefore, create and enforce boundaries. It could be a rule to not do a show after 7 or spend alternate weekends at work. Since it’s your life and work at stake, you are free to create boundaries as you like.

If you’re fearful of losing clients, there’s no need to worry. When you set boundaries and work around them, your clients and family both remain satisfied.

Learn to Handle the Mom Guilt

Most mothers feel guilty about going to work and leaving their children behind. Whether it’s the people around you or your inner self, learn to control these feelings. There is no need to feel guilty about going to work. Think about it: how many times do fathers get the same feeling?

Getting emotional due to guilt is not right. It is okay to acknowledge these feelings, but don’t blame yourself for anything. Believe in yourself and your bond with the child.

If you start feeling guilty every day, your motivation for running your startup weakens, and in no time your work starts to suffer. In the real estate business, time is money. It’s a business running on commissions and clients, which requires your time.
