Simplify Life With This Decluttering Checklist

There's no denying that life can get pretty hectic and chaotic at times. It can be tough to keep up with everything, and your home can start to feel like a cluttered mess. So, if you're looking for ways to declutter your home and life, here's our decluttering checklist to get you started, and ultimately help you feel more organized and in control.

1. Don’t Be Afraid To Hire a Decluttering Service

If you're finding it too difficult to declutter your home on your own, don't be afraid to hire a professional service. Many companies specialize in decluttering and organizing homes in Florida, and they can help you get your home in order in no time.

A junk removal Fort Lauderdale-based service would be a great place to start to help you get rid of those larger items.

2. Declutter One Room at a Time

Trying to declutter your entire home all at once can be completely overwhelming, and you're likely to get frustrated pretty quickly.

So instead, focus on decluttering one room at a time. This will help you stay focused, and you'll be able to see the progress you're making as you go.

3. Create a Decluttering Checklist and Set Goals

Before you start decluttering, creating a decluttering checklist and setting some goals can be helpful. This will give you a roadmap to follow and help you stay on track.

Think about what you want to achieve and how you will do it. For example, your goal might be to declutter your bedroom, and your plan could involve getting rid of any clothes you don't wear and donating them to charity.

4. Donate or Recycle Anything You Don’t Need

One of the best ways to declutter your home is to eliminate anything you don't need or use.

If you have clothes that you never wear, books that you've never read, or toys that your kids have outgrown, consider donating them to charity or recycling them. Not only will this declutter your home, but it will also help someone in need.

5. Be Ruthless in Your Decluttering Process

You might be tempted to hold onto things “just in case,” but this will only make your home more cluttered. So be ruthless with your decluttering checklist process, and eliminate anything you don't really need.

A good question to ask yourself is, “If I didn't have this, would I go out and buy it?” If the answer is no, then get rid of it.

6. Organize Your Space in a Way That Makes Sense

How you organize your space should make sense to you and your family. There's no “right” way to do it, so do whatever works best for you.

For example, if you have a lot of kids' toys, you might want to consider investing in some storage bins or baskets to keep them organized. Or, if you have a lot of clothing, you might want to organize your closet by color or season.

7. Put Things Away in Their Proper Place

Once you've decluttered your home and organized your space, it's important to put things away in their proper place. This will help you keep your home clutter-free and make it easier to find things when needed.

For example, if you have a catch-all drawer in your kitchen, make sure to empty it out on a regular basis, and put everything away in its proper place.

Final Thoughts

By following these tips, you can declutter your home and life and ultimately feel more organized and in control. So don't wait any longer. Get started today!

Haha, I’m sure it’s not that bad, but I think everyone could use some decluttering

    Hi Krystle,

Super tips. When my wife sold her mom’s house a few years ago she gave away 95% of her belongings to organizations. Amazing how decluttering the house combined with generating the good vibes of giving away useful stuff lead to a lightning fast sale.
