This working from home post was created in partnership with Motorola. I was not financially compensated for this post but did receive a sample for review purposes. As always, all opinions are entirely my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support me!
If you have just started working from home, you probably have some questions that need to be answered. When you have made the decision on starting to work from home you are probably wondering where do you find such work as well as does it pay enough. You might be even wondering what it will be like being a mom that is working from home.
Many think that the first step to this is finding yourself a job or starting your new business. But it is not, the first step is planning out how you will still put your children and family first, then creating your resume and taking a step back to see the whole picture that will help you decide if that is something that will work for you and your family.
The Benefits of Working from Home for Moms
Spend More Time With Your Children
When you are working from home you are able to be a part of your children's routines throughout the day, instead of just being a part of morning or evening ones. You will be able to take a family on a lunch break and have them tell you how their day went.
When you are a mom that is working from home you don't have unlimited time with your children, but you do have more opportunities to be with them.
You Have Flexible Work Hours
Even though people who work from home have more flexible hours than people who work in offices, you will still need to follow a schedule. Moms who work from home usually choose to do all their work in the morning or at night when the children are asleep.
The flexibility will give you more time to complete your errands, keep your house clean and do that extra load of laundry, and still not have to worry about being late for work or taking time off.
You Will Save Money on Childcare Costs
This one doesn't necessarily apply for every mom that is working from home, but in most cases, you will be able to have your children with you while you are doing your work. It all depends on what type of work you are doing and how your children are.
But many moms choose to go with this option since they can work from home while keeping track of the kids with the baby monitors. Reliable baby monitoring devices allow moms to work in another room or attend a meeting without disturbing their sleeping baby from their slumber!
Aside from saving money on childcare costs, working from home will also let you cut back from the following expenses:
- Gas or transportation: There’s no need to spend money on fuel or transportation fare. Working from home also means you don’t need to worry about the daily traffic or high car maintenance costs!
- Expensive meals: Eating out can hike up your monthly expenses quickly. Not only will you save from costly meals at work, but you can also choose to eat healthy, home-cooked meals with your kids!
- Clothing and makeup: Work-at-home moms should still take care and keep themselves presentable. But when you’re working at home, you can skip the heavy makeup and the fancy pantsuit. Remote working slashes hundreds of dollars off your monthly expenses so you can save money for more important matters.

Fun Ways to Stay Connected When Working Remotely
Thanks to COVID-19, many parents are working from home while their kids are having to complete school assignments online. This is challenging to say the least especially if your child is younger. They require more assistance and hand holding which can be quite difficult when you are trying to meet a deadline.
However, things can be made much easier with the help of technology that companies like Motorola provide.
Motorola and Hubble Connected
Motorola has made it a mission to help you stay connected to everything you love and lift some of that pressure off your shoulders. This has helped us tremendously!
Now, using the Motorola Peeaboo Video Camera I can help my son with his schoolwork while remaining at my desk. Before, I had to traipse up the stairs every few minutes to guide him through his assignments, but now with the help of the video monitor (and remote desktop), I can stay at my desk and continue to work.
What I do is get him started on the computer and then head down to my desk to work.
From there I watch and listen to the live feed using the Hubble App. From the app, I can remotely pan 360-degrees, as well as digitally tilt and zoom so I can clearly see his computer and what he needs to do. If he has questions I can talk to him using the two-way talk feature. It's been a true lifesaver!
Now I can be productive while being an attentive parent. Who would have thought—but it can be done with the help of Motorola!
