You probably have noticed over the last year or so we’ve been loving JORD’s wood watches and new sunglasses line. In case you aren’t familiar with Jord (pronounced YODE) here’s a little bit about them:
Based out of St. Louis, Missouri – we are a team of dedicated creatives with a mission to change the way fashion is created. The JORD in-house team of designers are dedicated to creating unique accessories while using recycled, reclaimed, exotic & natural materials. We want to change the way fashion is created with the thought in mind that:
High End Fashion Can Be Sustainable.
Recently, JORD jumped further into the fashion accessories market by releasing a vegan leather bags line. Let me tell you they are stunning!
Eila Sustainable Wallet
We are in love with the Eila Suberhide wallet in peacoat blue and gold. While we may live in Texas, we are Kentuckians at heart, and that means we are all about ‘blue.’ Go Wildcats!
So, of course, while the other three color options for this wallet are okay, we had to go with blue for this vegan accessory.
This wallet can double as a clutch and has plenty of room for an iPhone with Otterbox case, a lipstick, and all your money and credit cards. Perfect for busy moms on the go!
As if that wasn’t enough, the Eila wallet also comes ready to gift in a chic gift box complete with bow and dustbag. What’s not to love?
What is Vegan Leather?
JORD uses a vegan leather called Suberhide. Suberhide is a unique material made from a fusion of Portuguese cork (which is nothing like a wine cork by the way) and woven fabric. Making wallets and handbags out of cork was an excellent choice!
For one, cork is 100% sustainable. The Quercus Suber (cork oak) tree is one of only three trees that can thrive despite its bark being removed. Then when the bark grows back, it removes carbon dioxide from the air and reduces greenhouse gases.
Since the cork tree can be safely harvested every decade for 200 years, its something that will be around for a nice long time!
To top it off, the quality of the material is impeccable. Cork can take a licking and keep on ticking. Most of us aren’t that gentle to our belongings. We take them out so they can be used and used well. There’s no point in buying something if it’s going to sit in your closet, and you can’t have any fun with it.
JORD’s Suberhide wallets and handbags resist scratches, staining, and tearing, maintains its shape, and cleans easily. If you party hard, it’s also water-resistant and flame retardant!
