Supercharge your day with this delicious this antioxidant-packed smoothie bowl featuring TONS of blueberries, matcha green tea, and chia seeds. Each bowl is a great source of fiber, protein, and vitamins!
I've made blueberry smoothies before, even a blueberry acai tea but never a blueberry smoothie with matcha green tea.
It's kind of crazy for me to be sharing something with matcha green tea in it. If I am totally honest, the first time I tried matcha was a huge letdown. It was plain disgusting. It was like drinking a cup of soggy wet grass. But the health benefits of green tea outweighed my first impressions and I just HAD to give it another shot. What I discovered was that I was making matcha all wrong. Thankfully, I received a lovely email from Tenzo Tea wanting to collaborate with me. They showed me that the first step to making any kind of matcha beverage starts with a green tea shot (in this case a Tenzo Shot). You can't just throw matcha into a cup of water and expect a great taste.
Live and learn.
I also learned that you need the right tools. Before, I was using a fork to mix in my matcha and stirring in a circular motion. This left chunks of matcha that would come back and bite you later. Yuck! But Tenzo tea has this nifty bamboo whisk that thoroughly mixes everything together and they taught me the right way to stir it – in a W M pattern.
You learn something new every day!
All of these new discoveries helped me appreciate matcha so much more, but let's face it – matcha has a strong taste. That's just how it is. If you aren't a big fan of the taste you are going to love this smoothie bowl. You can't taste the matcha at all yet you still get all of its benefits!
I should have known. I'm a shot or cocktail girl. I either want to get it down fast and get to the point or sip on something fruity. That's my philosophy with matcha too, apparently.
Let me take a step back and introduce Tenzo Tea. Tenzo Tea was discovered by two guys that were tired of the ups and downs that coffee and energy drinks cause. They wanted something better. Something healthier. That's when they discovered matcha green tea – an excellent energy supplement that is healthy and natural.
Matcha is a fine ground green tea powder made from whole young green tea leaves. This means it is way stronger than traditional green tea because you are ingesting an entire leaf. So you get more nutrients. More energy. More of it all!
This company has gone all out and gets their matcha directly from Japan where the craze started. I can not think of a better place to get matcha from – can you? Try Tezo Tea today!
So that's right this smoothie bowl really does reap all the benefits of matcha and more. My favorite matcha smoothie combo is made with frozen blueberries, banana, greek yogurt, and some soy milk. AND OF COURSE, a Tenzo Shot.
A Tenzo Shot is made by whisking 2 oz of hot water with 1 tsp matcha. Just how I like it – straight to the point!
I personally recommend trying Tenzo Tea in this smoothie bowl or by itself. Green tea has SO many benefits. Here are a few:
- Loaded with antioxidants (that help fight cancer and improve your skin). Even more than blueberries and kale!
- Gives you 72mg of caffeine for every 1 level teaspoon of powder that you use without jitters or spikes
- Boosts daily metabolism and increases the rate at which the body burns stored fat
- Can also help to eliminate the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome
- Been shown to reverse cellular damage caused by oxidative-nitrosative stress
- Helps naturally eliminate chemicals and heavy metals from the body
So what do you have to lose? This Energizing Blueberry Smoothie Bowl with Tenzo Tea is a great way to start your day on the right foot. Cheers!
