If you watch commercials, you will think most women are only concerned about hair care, wrinkle prevention, and fashion. Those are the things advertisers most want women to be concerned about. However, the typical American woman not only cares about her appearance but also her personal women's health issues.
In particular, every woman must spend a certain amount of time focused on her well-being. This is not a matter of vanity but reflects the reality that caring for those you love requires first caring for yourself.
As a woman, your health is directly related to how well you can do your job, provide for your family, and simply enjoy your life.
The time has now come to take action to ensure the health and well-being of women and girls globally. Keep reading to learn more! Click To TweetWomen's Health Care Is a Prime Concern
Whether you are moving away from home for the first time or relocating to a new geographical area, a top priority should be finding a health care clinic and provider suited to you as an individual.
In making your selection, it is essential to remember that women’s health issues are often quite distinct from men's. As a result, you will want to evaluate the services provided and the staff of institutions to find one suited for your health concerns.
“Communities and countries and ultimately the world are only as strong as the health of their women.”
– Michelle Obama
Most common female health problems
It may be an understatement to express that women’s health concerns are varied and often unlike men's. Among the more prevalent issues women deal with are:
- Cancer, particularly of the breast and female organs. While breast cancer is most prevalent, cancers of the ovaries and cervix may go undetected.
- Coronary artery disease. Heart conditions present differently with women than with men and may be unrecognized.
- Diseases of the autoimmune system. There is a vast array of autoimmune conditions. From rheumatoid arthritis to osteoporosis to fibromyalgia where the woman’s body attacks itself.
- Gynecology conditions. The reproductive system can be a source of various concerns such as endometriosis, irregular menses, and ovarian cysts.
- Neurological issues. While anxiety, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, and chronic depression are not confined to women, the seriousness of these disorders has in the past been discounted by health care providers.
Social Issues That Impact the Health of Women
In discussing women's health, it is significant to consider those social issues of particular concern which may have a broad impact on women’s health.
For instance, there is a general perception that the internet is available and accessible for anyone. In reality, the United Nations reports that there has always been a gender gap when it comes to online access, saying it is “a dire disadvantage that girls, women, and marginalized groups are least likely to have access to technology.”
Also, despite efforts to curb domestic abuse, it is estimated that one in three women will experience violence from men at some point in their lives.
Many issues impact the health of women. Empowering the well-being of women must be a priority.
I can name THE top NUMBER 1 women’s health care concern. DOCTORS DON’T LISTEN! A man and a women both go to the ER with the same symptoms. The man gets an EKG, a CAT scan, a full work up. The woman gets told she’s “nervous” and “needs to relax.” That’s why more and more women are dying of heart attacks, even after having been seen (but not really evaluated) by emergency staff. Am I wrong????
I do feel that way with some doctors. They don’t really care what you have to say, and you feel just like a number to them.
