If you have some idea about the product design industry, you might already know that a design's success depends on its function and aesthetic. The design and functions of product stickers are sometimes as important as the usability of the product. This is where waterproof stickers come to play.
Labels or stickers are the first things that inform customers about all the nitty-gritty details of the product—its purpose, ingredients, user instructions, and so on. And think of the annoyance customers would feel if they bought beauty products from your shop only to find the stickers get ruined by water before they even had a chance to go through the user instructions.
Not a good start to your business, right? Let’s read on to learn about the benefits of using waterproof stickers for your beauty product business.
What Are Waterproof Stickers And How Do They Work?
Waterproof stickers are a durable sticker layer that can handle a moisture-heavy or wet environment (i.e. showers, bathrooms, outdoors, etc.).
In addition to that, its adhesive is strong and won't easily peel off from the product when wet. It also keeps the printed design legible despite the water damage.
The effectiveness of waterproof stickers depends on the strength of the adhesive and the print's durability—both the paper and ink. Depending on the type of printer, you can have two types of waterproof stickers.
Inkjet Labels
The inkjet printer's ink is itself a liquid substance that uses a fluid base; it can be hard to waterproof.
To resolve this dilemma, waterproof inkjet labels use water repellent coating over their ink print. By the time the ink dries and the coating sets in, the ink will be protected from water damage.
Sometimes a polyester screen is added to protect the ink, making the label waterproof.
Laser Print Labels
Laser printers use the burn technique (similar to etching or engraving) for printing. It uses heat and pointed pressure to the toner to bind with the material.
Laser print stickers are more durable and waterproof than inkjet printers. But, they are hard to manage at home with your regular printing gear.
Benefits of Waterproof Stickers
Most of your beauty products live by the sink or in the bathroom cabinet, making them susceptible to water, moisture, or oil.
So, with a little upgrade to your inventory, you can easily make your customers satisfied with waterproof stickers and labels.

From production to supply, your product has to pass through many hurdles within the supply chain. It might get stored in the darkest corner of a warehouse, full of moisture or humidity, or exposed to the harshest sun or rain. These are enough reasons to keep you worried about the upkeep of your product.
Thus, if you don’t want your product stickers to get damaged by the slightest of inconvenience, you must go for waterproof stickers.
Doesn’t Peel Off Easily
Nothing can bring down the appearance of a product like a peeled-off label or a scratched sticker.
Waterproof stickers are hard to tear or peel, even when trying your hardest. This keeps it from getting scratched by delivery trucks, pets, or kids.
Clear Image and Text
The main purpose of labels is to convey messages to your customers—from ingredients to user instructions. Everything should be printed on that sticker.
If the instructions get smudged after a few times of use, your customer might face a hard time using the product. But, with a waterproof sticker on your products, you get legible logos, designs, and information even after months of use.
Can Weather Extreme Temperatures
Waterproof stickers can also withstand high temperatures. Your beauty products can be used in a steaming shower or even an outdoor environment.
Most waterproof stickers such as vinyl laser weatherproof stickers can withstand temperatures as high as 137 degrees.
Even if you plan to ship your product to the arctic where it's below 30 degrees, your waterproof sticker will withstand it.
Be it sun or rain; a waterproof sticker will protect your product from harsh weather.
Easily Sticks to Various Surfaces
Waterproof stickers use strong adhesives that are easy to apply on various surfaces. Depending on the purpose, you can use permanent or extra permanent (high tack) adhesives for your stickers.
For this reason, waterproof stickers are considered versatile in their use.
Clean Appearance
Labels should convey the aesthetics of your brand. Making stickers waterproof doesn’t necessarily mean you have to trade off aesthetics.
Various materials, finishes, and textures can be used for your products and will amplify their appearance.
Besides, since the ink doesn’t get smudged by water or frequent use, the waterproof stickers' appearance stays neat even after many months.
Colors Stay Remarkably Intact
Weathered colors on stickers can turn off customers from using a product. Products that sit in their vanity should display attractive colors and designs.
Hence, waterproof stickers will be your best option if you want your products to look new even after their content has run out.
Waterproof stickers are weather-resistant to the point that extreme exposure to the sun can not wear off or tarnish their colors.
Wide Range of Options
With the growing demand for waterproof stickers in various industries, waterproof materials for stickers have also grown. From waterproof inkjet labels, laser labels, thermal transfer labels, and direct thermal labels, you will never run out of options.
Similarly, you can also customize the color for them in whatever shades you want.
On a final note, running a beauty product business is not an easy feat, especially if you are competing with high-end brands. So you should take proper care to uphold customer satisfaction by making your products as durable as possible.
Product stickers and labels should be the signature of your brand. That is to say, waterproof stickers can enhance the utility of your product as well as multiplying its appearance. Isn't that something you want? We are guessing, yes.
This makes sense. I dabble a bit in making my own beauty products but haven’t made labels, as I just make things for myself and know what they are or write right on them with a Sharpie. I need a little help in that area.
What kind of beauty products have you made?
i love this i love to make body butters and lotions but if one was making things to be used in the tub or shower i agree not good if they get smudged or come off cause a person needs to be able to read the ingredients for some are allergic to stuff in some things.
Oh, you make body butters? That’s awesome. What are your favorite ingredients to use?
These are great reasons. It makes total sense to me!
Totally agree. It’s annoying when stickers come off when they aren’t supposed to
