Having a baby is an amazing thing. Unfortunately, there is no handbook on what you’ll need to make this baby care stuff happen. Whether this is baby #1 or baby #10, the needs of caring for a baby doesn’t change. We all know we need the basics like diapers, wipes, clothes, and a killer diaper bag, but what else? Here are a few vital product’s insider mom’s have on their baby registry, ones you may not have thought of yet!

Boudreaux’s Butt Paste

Something that doesn’t always cross a mom-to-be’s mind when she’s shooting down baby registry products is all important diaper rash cream. Not just any regular diaper cream though, you want the good stuff. One of my favorite things to have on my baby registry is Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. This stuff is amazing and nice and thick.

No new mom should go without Boudreaux’s Butt Paste on their list. Whenever my baby had an issue down under, I reached for Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. It starts healing right on contact. Knowing that something works right away is essential when you have someone screaming their head off in the middle of the night.

butt paste

If your baby is dealing with chafed skin, Boudreaux’s Butt Paste will work wonders. It protects chafed skin by forming an instant barrier directly on the skin. That means it is great to use whether your baby has a current diaper rash or not. Keeping your baby clean, dry, and using a moisture barrier like Boudreaux’s Butt Paste is a great diaper rash preventative.

Whether you are solely trying to prevent diaper rash or your baby has a moderate case on their behind, Boudreaux’s Butt Paste has a formula that will work for your situation.

maximum strength butt paste

  • Original Boudreaux’s Butt Paste: 16% Zinc Oxide – helps treat and prevent diaper rash by creating a barrier to seal out moisture.
  • Maximum Strength Boudreaux’s Butt Paste: 40% Zinc Oxide – over two times the rash fighting power of the Original formula with no harsh ingredients. You can start noticing a difference in as little as three hours!
  • Both are available in 2oz., 4oz., and 16oz.!

If you want to go a little more natural they also have an aloe and beeswax version. It’s not quite as thick as the other versions but it is still pediatrician recommended just like all the others!

Steam Bags

Steam bags are great for pumping moms on the go, or for whenever you want to sterilize something and have access to a microwave. They are perfect for when you are pumping at work and want to sterilize your parts quickly after washing them. They are super easy to use. Just fill the bag with your pump or bottle parts and water and pop right into the microwave. Each bag can be used up to five times.

Baby Boy Pee Shield

baby with butt in air

This is must-have for parents of little boys. This little cone is made to catch the inevitable sprinkles that pop up during diaper changes. No more having to change onesies and changing pad covers after each diaper change!

Crib Rail Covers

Crib rail covers are an essential for all cribs. They work well at keeping your child’s crib in new condition. In case you didn’t know, as they age they will turn into beavers and start chewing on the crib. This will also prevent your little one from ending up with wooden splinters in their mouth, while they are teething.

Adjustable Infant Wraps

Swaddles are every baby’s best friend. These are used in place of receiving blankets to keep your baby swaddled, and feeling snug and secure, just like when they were in the womb. They are designed with Velcro to make swaddling easy to do and more difficult for your little love to wiggle out of.

New moms, without a doubt, NEED these items on their list. Moms, don’t forget to add a few things for yourself as well. I love adding a few things for me, so that when baby gets here, I have an easier time taking care of baby. You know what they say, take care of yourself first, so you can take care of your baby. Chocolate is always on “my list.”
