You've got several unique business ideas. The problem is, you don't know a lot of business contacts and maybe never even imagined yourself as a business owner. So you've got some great ideas for a business, but you're not sure where to go from here. Check out our guide for the next steps to take with your unique business concept!Click To Tweet

Problems and Solutions Regarding Your Unique Business Ideas

how to make shit happen book cover for unique business ideas

It is frequently said that in order for a business to be successful, you need to identify a problem that it solves for the customer. You must figure out how to set yourself apart if you already have competitors. This can actually be a somewhat confusing concept.

After all, people purchase things they don't need all the time, and if you think about products or services that were big fads at one time, you may not be able to point to any particular problem they solved. The answer is that they did indeed solve a problem, even if it was a person's desire to own a particular set of collectibles and perhaps become part of a larger community in that way.

For some ideas, you may need to dig deeper into human psychology than others, but you should eventually be able to clearly state the problem and solution in relation to your unique business ideas.

Develop a Business Plan

100 side hustles for unique business ideas

At this stage, your business plan is a kind of living document. You shouldn't overwhelm yourself by trying to put together a 30-page precis to woo investors.

However, you should start making notes that answer such questions as who is your customer? What is your marketing plan? Where will your funding come from?

Accion Opportunity Fund small business loans can be an excellent funding source because of the many other resources you can be connected to. These include support networks in English and Spanish, coaching, and more. You may not be ready to look into these types of loans when you sit down to write your first version of your business plan, but as it becomes more developed, a resource like this could be invaluable.

Consider a Product Prototype

Prototypes aren't just for inventors, nor are they just for businesspeople who are creating a physical product. A prototype is a way of test-driving various aspects of your unique business ideas. This is a way to reduce startup operating costs and minimize wasted time and effort.

You could start working on a website. You could even invite people to sign up to learn more about your product or service. This could start to give you an idea of what kind of interest you may have.

Create Goals for Your Unique Business Ideas

At this point, it's time to start creating concrete, measurable goals with deadlines. Set a date for your launch. Set some specific financial goals you want to meet, but depending on the nature of your business and your day job, consider keeping your day job if possible so that you don't have to worry about your salary for a while.

Consider creating a five-year plan with short, medium, and long-term goals. Don't try to do too much at once, but have enough of a vision of the future that your shorter-term goals are building to something bigger.
