What is best: corded or cordless tools? It’s a debate that has been going on since cordless power tools first hit the scene. Check out the benefits of cordless tools now!Click To TweetSome people don't want to be held back by a cord so they opt for cordless. However, cordless tools still have a few disadvantages. This makes people confused about which one will be better – corded or cordless?
The same thing happened to me when I purchase my cordless drills and driver tools. Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of using cordless tools that I discovered.
Advantage of Cordless Tools
Some of the key advantages are as follows:
- More convenient to use because they are lightweight and can often be held in one hand.
- Since they use lithium batteries you do not need any external power source. This makes doing outdoor projects, working in remote areas, or during times of no electricity possible.
- Any time you work with electricity safety is a concern. Undoubtedly, cordless tools are safer due to this aspect. Plus, there is no physical cord that you can trip and fall over making them a safer choice as well.
- Cordless power tools often come with two batteries so you can charge one while using the other. The batteries are easy to swap out and last a long time.
- Cordless power tools make round holes faster than corded tools making them a smarter option if you need to do your work quickly.
A tool is but the extension of a man's hand, and a machine is but a complex tool. And he that invents a machine augments the power of a man and the well-being of mankind.
Disadvantages of Using a Cordless Tool
Though cordless tools have many advantages, it is not without any disadvantages. Some of the disadvantages are below:
- In most cases, cordless tools cost more than corded tools. Corded tools are old school and more traditional. More advanced technology combined with convenience often includes a higher price tag.
- The batteries in cordless options can be a problem if you have a bad memory. Forgetting to charge them means you can not work.
- Cordless power tools are great but often are more prone to defects than sturdier corded tools.
You are not on this planet to produce anything with your body. You are on this planet to produce something with your soul. Your body is simply and merely the tool of your soul. Your mind is the power that makes the body go. So what you have here is a power tool, used in the creation of the soul's desire.
Both cordless and corded power tools have some advantages and disadvantages, and ultimately you should purchase the tool you feel most comfortable operating.
If portability is your top concern a cordless power tool would be your best bet.
Sometimes cordless tools are safer and faster, though forgetting to charge the batteries is inconvenient. I also like that they are much lighter to handle.
It always helps to have extra batteries if you are going to be using cordless tools
I definitely prefer cordless but do have to be better about putting the batteries on their chargers.
