Why Window and Door Replacement is a Must During Winter

When January rolls around, the last thing most people are thinking of is a major renovation project. With the wind whistling outside and snow on the ground, most homeowners simply want to do the bare minimum.

But there are reasons why some home improvement projects, like window and door replacement, should be done ASAP. Even if it's cold outside. Choosing the right contractors is equally important.

If your house hasn’t had a window and door replacement company install new ones in decades and you are starting to suffer the effects of old, draughty windows, here are three reasons why you shouldn’t wait until spring to replace them.

Improved Energy Retention and Efficiency

For those living in a cold climate, maximizing your home’s energy retention is the best way to reduce heating bills and achieve a lower carbon footprint overall. An estimated 10-20% of all energy loss happens through windows. SO installing new energy-efficient models is key if you want to keep heat inside.

Not only will you reduce your heating bill and save you money by having window and door replacement done it will also improve your standard of living. How? By eliminating draughts and keeping your home nice and warm — just how everyone likes it!

New Windows Increase the Value of your Home

New windows won’t just make a house more efficient — they can also make it more valuable. A recent news report from CNBC noted that an investment of $10,000 in window and door replacement can increase the home’s value by as much as $8,500, yielding a staggering 85% return on investment.

If you need a reason to finally replace those old drafty windows this winter this is it! Bite the bullet and have new windows installed so you'll reap the benefits of a huge bump in house value.

All thanks to the greater efficiency and enhanced curb appeal that comes with brand new vinyl windows!

Save Time and Money by Booking Window and Door Replacement in the Off-Season

Winter isn’t just a good time to install new windows, but it's a perfect time.

Aside from the fact that new windows will have an immediate impact, making your home more comfortable and more efficient for the remainder of the winter, replacing your windows in January or February means you will be booking a contractor in the slowest season of the year.

When temperatures drop, you may realize your current windows and doors need to be replaced. Here's why you should get on that ASAP! Click To Tweet

This will not only increase your chances of being able to have the work done at a time that is convenient for you, but you will also likely benefit from seasonal discounts or sales on high-quality vinyl windows.

Windows are one of the most essential components of any home, and for those living in a cold climate, new windows serve the dual purpose of maximizing exposure to natural heat and light during the darkest months of the year, and of adding a crucial layer of insulation.

Why Window and Door Replacement is a Must During Winter

Make sure this is the last holiday season you have to suffer through with old, draughty windows. Call a local door and window replacement company and have new vinyl windows installed today!

How do you make your home more energy efficient?

Our windows are good. But our doors are terrible! We had the front door replaced (it looks awesome). We put new weather stripping on the back door. When standing near either door, there isn’t a draft 🙂

Our front door could use some work too. The stripping is coming undone and it’s faded from the sun.

Oh, boy, I’ve lived in places where you can feel the icy winds coming in around doors and old windows. It’s definitely not fun. It ratchets up the heat bill and it’s just cold!

SO true. Drafty windows are no fun at all when it’s freezing outside!

We live in an older rental house. I know the power bill would go down if the windows and doors were replaced but the landlord is not going to do that. He did let us get a new fridge and stove of our choosing plus bought new toilets. We replaced the washer and dryer and some of the flooring ourselves so far out of our pockets as well as screened in the front porch.

Sounds like you guys are really trying to spruce up your rental. I hope he repays you for some of the work you’ve done!

Our house gets really drafty. I think my husband and I need to look into replacing windows because they are over 25 years old.

I say after 25 years your windows are probably due.

Windows are costly but they benefit the home in lots of ways. Makes your home more cost efficient. Makes the home look nicer. Also increases the value of your home. All great things for us homeowners.
