I have a 4 year old son and from time to time he still has night time accidents. Usually it's our fault because we let him drink liquids too late or forgot to make him use the bathroom before bed.
It's quite a hassle to strip the bed entirely when this happens. He has a millions pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals that need a washing when his Niagara falls starts flowing. It takes several loads to get everything clean but thanks to things like the Priva Premium Sheet Protector and the Zip and Block Anti Allergen Pillow Encasings my loads are greatly reduced.
The Priva Premium Sheet Protector is just what you think it is. It's a mat that you lay on the bed over the fitted sheet to protect it from accidents. I love that this mat is a good size measuring 34×36 inches and that the waterproof backing makes no noise when you lay on it. There's nothing worse than hearing plastic screeches every time you turn in your sleep.
When night time accidents do occur you can pop it in the washer and dryer and it comes out brand new. My son barely even noticed it on his bed and has had no problems sleeping on it. It's comfy!
I received two pillow encasings. The Zip and Block Econo Block and the Soft Block. Between these two I prefer the Soft Block.
They both do the exact same job but the Soft Block is more comfortable. More on that in a bit. The makers of Zip and Block Anti Allergen Pillow Encasings say these cases:
Provides a protective barrier around your pillow that locks out and eliminates bed bugs, dust mites, pet dander, pollen, and mold spore allergies once and for all. Provides protection from allergen molecules of less than 1.0 microns. Prevents breeding bacteria and is waterproof.
More on comfort. The Zip and Block Soft Block feels almost just like a regular pillow. Soft and comfortable. Makes no noise. Love it!
On the other hand, the Zip and Block Econo Block feels and looks like an old vacuum cleaner bag. This encasing does not feel like a normal pillow when you lay on it. It reminds me of – imagine partially blowing up a plastic ziplock bag and covering it with a pillow case. That's what it reminds me of when I press on it. Not my fav.
However, if you are just looking for function this case will protect you and your family from micro critters and night time accidents just as the Soft Block will. I love that it saves this mommy from having to wash pillows!
Overall, I would recommend all of these products to anyone wanting to lessen their laundry loads due to night time accidents. And they are reasonably priced!
How often do you wash your bedding?
Disclosure: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Oh what a great product for you and obviously a gazillion other parents out there. I feel for your son as I drink too many liquids late at night but I’ve avoided accidents so far, Krystle 🙂
It’s been a great product so far! Luckily, he hasn’t been wetting the bed lately. He’s 4 though so I don’t think the full control kicks in until a little older so accidents here and there are bound to occur.
