The standard date idea of “dinner and a movie” has lost its novelty a long time back. And, going to the museums, parks, or some outdoor adventure isn’t always possible.
So, how would the new romantics make their date night special? Have a stay-at-home date night, of course!
Besides all the previously mentioned hassles of setting up date night in a typical way, it's also true that modern couples are the busy ones. Most of the time, the long hours pulled at the office doesn’t spare you enough energy to go out again. But that shouldn't spoil your date nights.
Your at-home dates can be as unique as your love story. And, here are five ideas to help you out in that regard.
Cook a Nice Dinner at Home for Your Love
Getting a reservation at those fancy restaurants is just too tricky, especially during the weekends or special days like Valentine’s Day. Even if you manage to get a reservation on one of those busy nights, yelling over the restaurant chatter might kill the mood.
So, how about popping open a bottle of blantons, turning on some good music, and cooking a gourmet meal?
You can whip up your partner’s favorite dish, or both of you can join forces in creating a new one.
Set up the dining table with candles and flowers, and dress up in your best attire to create the mood. And, you would probably think twice about checking into those expensive restaurants ever again!
Camp Out in the Backyard or Living Room
As mentioned before, finding the time to take a vacation and go on a camping trip is too hard for couples these days. But no worries! You can create your own camping experience in the backyard or the living room if you don't have a backyard.
Remember those blanket forts you used to build as kids? You can create a camp like that in the living room or backyard to get the feel of camping with your partner. Setting up such a camp will make you feel mischievous but in the best way.
Grab a few cushions from the sofa and a cozy blanket for your little love nest. You can order takeout for the night if you aren’t in the mood to cook.

Setting up a game night is pretty simple: you can pop open a bottle of bourbon, set a cheese board, and challenge each other.
You can also choose any game that both of you enjoy, be it risk, cards, rummy, or monopoly. Remember that a bit of competition can also be a fantastic aphrodisiac. Make your bets romantic, cute, and naughty to spice up things between the two of you.
Escape Mail
One of our favorite games to play is Escape Mail. It's an escape room-style adventure game filled with various types of puzzles.
Over 12 episodes (one season), you help your cousin find a long-lost treasure by decoding riddles, puzzles, and clues.
Everything is sent to you in a standard-sized envelope and it truly puts your brain to the test!
Some of the puzzles require physical manipulation (cutting, folding, etc.) while others are digital.
If you ever get stumped, hints are available online.
So grab your partner, a drink, and get ready for fun. It's a perfect date night for those who enjoy solving puzzles!
It is also worth mentioning that a game night can be a great idea if you plan to have a double date or group date at home. So, you can also get your friends and their spouse over for a fun night in.
Turn the Guest Room into a Hotel Room
Staying at fancy hotels always feels so luxurious, but it isn't always cost-effective. Well, you can transform your guest room into an elegant vacation suite with a few tweaks here and there.
Here’s what you can do to turn your spare room into a hotel suite.
Start by lighting scented candles and turn on soft music. Now, place a nice bottle of champagne in an ice bucket near the bed, along with a few chocolate-coated strawberries. You can sprinkle some flower petals on the bed for the added effect.
Don't forget to decorate the bathroom, too. Get samples of body lotions and skincare goods from department stores, and place them in a pretty basket in your bathroom. Sprinkle a few petals in that bathtub as well.
Snuggle and Take a Trip Down The Memory Lane
Dim the lights or turn them off altogether, and maybe you can even light up a few scented candles for the romantic effect. Switch off your phones to disconnect from the world, and snuggle together under one blanket. It’s time now for both of you to take a trip down memory lane.
Reminisce about the times that you have spent together, starting from the day you met for the first time.
Do you have some old home DVDs lying around filled with your childhood videos? You can plug in those and start sharing stories about your childhood or family milestones.
It can also be an excellent way to learn something new about your sweetheart.
The Endnote
Dating is a regular and also a special thing for every couple. It’s all about making your partner feel special and keeping your love growing each day. And, the date night ideas mentioned above can be great ways to do that.
So, go ahead and choose among the ideas discussed here, give your spin to it, and create a date to remember with the love of your life.
